Yamauchi: Western GT5 release held up for “marketing reasons”
Speaking at the SEMA motor show recently with Autoweek, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has said that the reason that the release of Gran Turismo 5 in the West is down to “marketing reasons”.
“We will release [GT5] in March in Japan but for other regions, it has not been decided yet,” he said.
“That’s more depending on SCEA (Sony Computer Entertainment America) marketing decisions.”
The game was given a March 2010 release date for Japan at the Tokyo Game Show in September.

I never really understand why they keep saying this. It’s like they’re giving some hope that it actually might come out before the Japanese release… but we know that’s not going to happen, so why not just be clear about it?

Too bad it won’t be out THIS holiday run, it would be a real shot in the arm. And at a time when the PS3 could really use something to keep the momentium going.

GT5, stuck in a near endless development cycle and he blames marketing.

Oh c’mon! Just figure this shit out and do a simultaneous worldwide release.
Can’t be that hard to streamline marketing …

Kaz has been saying it’s done for months Gekidami… but he also says that they haven’t finished the damage, or the weather code, and that they need to put the content together.
…so I’m not entirely convinced.

As with Prologue, I’ll probably import the JPN version (ie. play-asia) and live with the kanji menus (which I don’t doubt will have a page explaining it in english:http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=2855689#post2855689) until the english version is released.
