IW: No multiplayer reset for anyone who has retail MW2

modernwarfare23

Infinity Ward’s Rob Bowling has tweeted that anybody who has a retail copy of Modern Warfare 2, instead of a pirate/modded version, their multiplayer stats won’t be reset.

It comes as last week, Bowling said that a full multiplayer reset was on the cards.

Any players who purchased a legit retail copy will not be reset or banned. Only modded / pirate versions will be,” he said.

Bowling also confirmed that anyone who got the game early from some retailers, including GameStop, won’t be punished.

“ANY store selling #MW2 early is in violation of street date. There are no “special permissions”. That said, we won’t punish players for it.”

There you have it.

Ummm I don’t want to seem like an asshole or anything but did you guys own a PS1 and PS2. Sony pretty much dominated both generations and most of the best games were exclusive to their platform. So using the Dual shock controller should be like second nature. Did you guys never own those consoles or did you just suffer through it?

Dont waste your time FS, you could sit there all day disproving everything he says to the point where he makes excuses of ‘being done’ to get out of it or just changes subject because he cant think of any more counter arguments.

The next day he’d have forgotten it all anyway. He’s abit dense you see…

I am not one to ask use of the ban hammer, but BDH makes a solid case.

The Xbox S-type controller was one of the main reasons I jumped from a PS2 to an Xbox and never looked back (apart from for God of War and Wipeout). I’ve never particularly enjoyed using a DualShock.

I used the dualshock style controller plenty… and it works. But that’s not to say there aren’t plenty of improvements that could be made to it.

That said, I can’t say I really have a controller preference this gen, other than where either the dpad or the triggers come in.

I find both OK.
If I am on the mates PS3 I am into it fairly quick.
In fact I find in lots of games the buttons you use are identical.

Only difference is 0 instead of B or whatever.
I hope I made some sense there. /reads again.
Yep I understand what I mean. :)

Main difference is the placement of the left analogue and D-pad.

Yeah, that’s the only major difference really, other than the general size and comfort, but those come down to personal preference.

I also find the shape of the ps pads to be a problem. They don’t fit into my palm as nicly as i would like. I end up having to up my fingers resting on the shoulder buttons to steady the pad. And yea, the twin anolog sticsk being close together bother me too. I play it, but it cramps my hand before too long.

I wish I could mod a DS3 into a x360 pad case. Everything on the latter feels more natural to me…

I’m sure that you can get mods that let you use each pad on the other console…

If you have the cash, look into the XCM Cross Fire. It allows you to use your 360 pad on your PS3. Has a lot of cool features too, like maping the layout, autofire, and other stuff. I want one if I am going to use the PS3 as a main gaming system.

Not quite as simple as that though, is it? The sticks and triggers are quite different in travel, response, etc. and the games on each platform will be tweaked to respond best to that specific kind of pad.

The reviews on the XCM thingie are all good. And I beielve they have one for both systems. I haven’t tried it yet, its 100usd, and I am switching to get away from 50usd/yr on LIVE. Makes no sense to spend two years worth of LIVE play on an adapter so i can control my PS3 games better. So I am on the fence on the whole thing. Just saying XCM could be an option for some folks.

45$ There. Special offer instead of 70$ though that version wont work on a Slim apparently.

OlderGamer, thanks for the suggestion. Of course paying $85 for the privilege is a lot of money, but it’s good to have the option.

One thing though: quick digging around the website mentions using your PS3 pad on your x360, not the other way around. Are you sure about it?

+1 @ Blerk, the voice or reason :)

EDIT: Thanks Gekidami as well :)

There ya go, thanks Gek. Looks like you have to make sure you get the right one for your needs. Also makes me worried that Sony/MS will do something in an update to lock out the converter.

um, let me take a look. Could be the pain meds ;)

Trust me, I am using a 360 on 360 and ps3 on ps3. Meant to establish that anyways.

Cant imagine them doing anything like that. I’m fairly interested myself though i’m not sure if that site will ship to Europe. Also that one dosnt work on Slim, right now i’m using the launch 60GB but who knows in the future; It might die then i’ll pick up a Slim and the thing wont work.

Also worth pointing out is that you can use the things to give normal pads turbo fire.

I found one on ebay awhile back. Might be an option.

OlderGamer, if you’ve got a spare $750 on you you can always have Ben Heck throw you together one of these: http://benheck.com/11-29-2008/ps360-controller-from-dual-shock-3#more-453

Holy hell, lol. Thats a nice piece. But wow 750$? Makes that XCM thing look like a steal. As big as the PS3 and xb360 are I am amazed really that some 3rd party hasn’t thrown together a pad like that, but ya know, with prices gamers could afford.

The comments suggest it used to run you $400, but the post lists $750, recession must be squeezing his balls :-p

Saitek do a range of controllers that allow you to switch the left thumb stick and D-pad, but like most Saitek products, they’re a pile of crap.
