About the ‘Half Life 2 > Half Life 1′ thing? For sure. I found the first game fairly dull, but the second one was fantastic.

PC mouse and keyboard gaming is the worst combo in the history of combos. A KKK member would rather see a white chic get banged by a black dude than ever use a mouse and keyboard for gaming.

May I ask when did you play HL1? At launch or later?

Half Life 2 really is considerably better than Half Life 1. Just the lack of alien bouncy bouncy planet at the end seals that order.

HL2 could not even begin to have the impact HL1 had in defining the FPS genre. Xen or not…

@TEA: there’s nothing wrong with pad control for FPS games, but PC versions are tweaked specifically for K&M control. You’ll never manage with a pad if you’re playing the PC version.

@JonFE: It was much later, which might’ve had something to do with it. But I don’t play a lot of shooters so it’s not like ‘later’ games spoiled it for me. Perhaps I was just expecting too much.

Half Life 1 may have been more ground breaking… but that doesn’t make it the better game.

If you really like gaming you should like both platforms. I understand if you are a hardcore or serious gamer and don’t care for the Wii (like myself) but if you like more mature gaming then you should like both. I have both, but I play 99% of my games on the 360. If I were a MS fanboy, I would have missed out on inFamous which would have been a shame because that game kicked ass.

From a business standpoint (which is how Valve is looking at it I’m sure) I don’t know how much time and money it adds to development to do the Sony platform, but Sony is coming back strong. It’s as dumb to not work with Sony as it is to not work with Microsoft.

Sorry Psycho, I really don’t see where HL2 excels HL1. It was a worthy sequel -no doubt about that- and I enjoyed playing through it and both the episodes, but apart from graphics it does not do anything better than its predecessor, IMHO of course.

I found the storytelling and the set-pieces much better in HL2, and there’s a much bigger variety of environments too. A much more ’rounded’ experience, IMHO of course.

Never played HL1.

HL2 was one of my favourite campaigns ever, though.

I think HL2 is better than HL1, and I bought HL1 on day one.

Half Life 2 does surpass Half Life. I was refering to the Half Life series as a whole. I still play Half Life 2 on my laptop from time to time.

I’m going through Episode 1 on 360 atm.

About 2 hours in, and I’m still waiting for the good part.
