CoD4 Vs MW2 PC feature comparison chart makes grim reading
A GAF poster’s rounded-up and compared features between the PC versions of Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2 following yesterday’s Best Buy chat, and it really doesn’t look great.
Things the first game had that the sequel doesn’t: dedicated servers, sub-40ms ping, console commands, lean, custom maps, mod tools, recording features, and tons more.
Hit the link. The game’s out on November 10.

Its because the developers are lazy. Simple as. What is it with games lately, taking out all the fun elements that made the game great – and then churn out a total ‘shell’ of a game. $$$$ anyone?
This isnt on my shopping list – not because of the dedicated servers but because compared to the Battlefield series, this is a pure turd

No offence but “Buhu, wha whaa no dedicated servers” cow hardly has any more milk left, we all know it attracts readers and heated opinions but give it a rest – Don’t buy the game if it annoys you that much, MW2 is an optional buy – Get over it.

Wow.
That chart is completely ridiculous.
‘Free demo’?
‘Competitive mods’ seperate from ‘mod tools’?
Surprised they didn’t put ‘Bigger box’ or ‘More keystrokes to type name into command line’.

Some of those are a bit of a reach. 64 players on most of the COD4 maps is gotta be overkill and plain unworkable.

.
Bizarre selection of perks in that vid. Playing 50 player Shipment with 2 x C4 and Sleight of Hand enabled? I’d have thought something from Extra grenades, bigger grenade explosions and martyrdom would have been advisable

Yeah, the whole concept of having loads of players is just a messy one as far as I’m concerned.
It just turns into a big mess.

to be honest its a fairly whiney chart obviously moaning about PC features being dropped.
but i completely agree, IW have fucked up and i hope their sales on the PC reflect this.
stop bringing up the 60 player server thing, player count is not the main issue here, its matchmaking being used on the PC for a large (anything more than 8 players is large) FPS, the fact that anyone not in america or europe has an EXTREME disadvantage for joining any game anywhere.

Around 30 players on LAN in CoD4 is brilliant, it’s why I bought the game (previously thinking it wasn’t for me, then I tried it at a LAN party).
Very strange that they have evolved backwards with the sequel. 0_o

ahahahahahahahahahhaha
If pc gamers really want to p;ay this game we can hack the game to the way we want it.
In fact pc gamers can hacked and hardware or software to play any game they want.
If a pc gamer really wanted to play console junk we use and build programs that does not need a console.
But me a good reason why I would want to play console junk
sorry i will never ever support and ugly game dev line infinty ward,
sorry pc gamers are way too smart for that
pc gamers are way too smart to be abused by any big cooperate company
this is why pc gamer don’t like big business
some one once told me the root of all ecil is the love of money
this is roof of how much the gaming industry loves pc gamers
this is another good reason I will never ever buy a console
the gaming industry is a joke so yea
enjoy your burning platform ahahahahahahhahaha
this how ugly alot game devs are

It seems to me that IW is indeed packaging a console style game experience on a PC. The last MW was 32 player, this one is 9v9. It won’t matter anyways because the inefficent IWnet will have hosts hosting games with 10 players in them due to bandwidth capacity. Sorry but this game is really not what people playing on PCs wanted. Not like this anyways.

“It seems to have generated an almighty sense of ill will.”
Only amongst a very vocal minority.
I wonder how long it’s going to take them to get over this game.
If it was me personally, I think I would have gotten tired of whinging and moaning about a single game by now…

I’d love to know what $60 games he reckons people are getting 100 hours out of. Because if you aren’t a multiplayer freak (like GHz!) most games these days will be lucky to last you 20… and that’s after replaying them.
I’m surprised BDH linked it though, given how much love he gives to mobile games rather than the PC.

i don’t mind mobile phones and pc gaming
mobile phones are now like pc’s any way.
you can’t carry a desktop pc around alot can you.
when I go traveling mobile gaming rocks.
I mean a gaming laptop, steam and then a mobile phone.
it’s all online somehting I am sure every pc gamer will loves.

This is the PC version of the game, the hardcore vocal minority is the entire market for this product. The more casual players buy the Xbox 360/PS3 version.

Not to mention that he says “Family”, while most MP games(where 100plus hrs is posible) are M rated. I wouldn’t want my kids playing something like CoD. To be fair EAs own Battlefield games, I believe are rated T(een). EA Sport games do offer that kind of replay tho. But again “Family”. I know my kids don’t care about FIFA or Madden.
Your right, very few games honestly offer anyway near 100hrs of gameplay if they are single player. I can think of exceptions of course. But most SP games are 20-30 hrs at most. Thats why we Gamefly.

He is right, far more casual gamers playing PC. However more ..I don’t what to call them ..”Softcore” gamers on systems. That is gamers that take the “pick up and play” approach to “Core” games.

No, the product spans 3 platforms. That’s what PC gamers see as being the problem. They don’t want the same product as the console owners, they want their own bespoke product.
I’m pretty certain that IW and Acti would have no problem whatsoever dumping the PC version and focussing on the console versions, so even if 50% of potential PC customers boycott the game, they probably won’t even bat an eyelid.
And the idea that casual players buy console versions is absolute rubbish.

it’s like this none of the pc gamers never really care up until game devs started trash talking pc gamers.
now they are stating to see a mob and how really smart pc gamers are and how much they really know.
I am just one there is more people like out there. we talk to each other we share info to each other.
how do you think i get my links and facts facts so fast.
take a good look a game companies uch as anet, blizzard, vavle, ncsoft i could go on.
