Microsoft sends invite to its US Xbox Live Rewards Program

Microsoft has sent out an invites to its rewards program preview for US Xbox 360 owners, allowing users to accrue Points for doing whatever it is they do when online.
We got ours today.
“The best part is, the more you spend, the more you get, and for each month you stay on Gold, the higher your monthly reward – up to 5 percent of your Marketplace spend,” reads a company statement.
Also, both Gold and Silver folks earn rewards for taking part in surveys. Neato.
We’ll let you know how many points we pile up. It will be a sad lot, admittedly.

You know, considering that the ONLY way to bring up your Gamerscore is by acquiring Microsoft-licensed Xbox games — which usually involves the exchange of money to Microsoft, or the payment of someone who paid Microsoft — wouldn’t it make sense for them to offer rewards points to GS? And at the same time add a point to the whole GS thing and crowd out the competition? Just a thought.

Thanks to the nutters that have 300k+ gamerscores any sort of reward system which uses them would be meaningless to us average players. I like this idea better… though I’d like it a whole hell of a lot more if it was in the UK too.
