Microsoft just confirmed that its 360 Sky player is being relaunched gradually in the UK, with “tens of thousands” of users being given access to the TV on-demand feature “each day”.

Here’s the full statement, dropped by Aceybongos on the Xbox.com forums:

As you may know, we have been experiencing some technical issues with the Sky Player on Xbox 360 since launch last Tuesday morning. It is important to both Sky and Xbox that we give customers as much information as possible about why the service is not working and when we expect this to be resolved.

As we said last week, some customers have been unable to experience full use of the service due to the initial demand for the service at launch, when so many people tried to access the service all at the same time.

Right now we are implementing a revised rollout which will see Sky Player become available to all Xbox 360 customers gradually. While unfortunately some customers do not have access to the service, tens of thousands more will be added each day, until the service is available to all.

We are taking this phased approach to ensure that consumers experience a high-quality experience. The Sky team has contacted the affected Sky Player TV subscribers on Xbox directly with further updates.

For further information consumers can go to xbox.skyplayer.com/help or www.xbox.com/support.

“Demand” forced Microsoft to withdraw the Sky player on its launch day last month.

there seems to be a lot of up set people out there but if your a sky tv subscriber already you get parts of it free depending on your subscription. the price is high so the people with the sky sports for example are paying around £50 a month if it was cheaper or worked out on a pay as you watch on the xbox no one will subscribe for the sky satellite packages. but i have to say the entertainment package on the sky player is weak for the price compared to what you get.im shore they are going to expand what’s there in the future. if you think its a waste of time don’t subscribe and don’t use it.there is talk of the BBCs iplayer coming to xbox witch makes seance and so one day every one will be happy with what they get free lol

    I got it this morning.

Need to set it up, but if you dont have a sub, you can get one free channel in Sky News.

I just set it up and tbh it is rubbish.
All you get is 24 channels regardless of your package.
I was on to sky and was told they hope to keep adding channels as the technology improves.

I mean film 4 or paramount is not even there.
I will not be paying for this anyway.

Surely you can add the sports package?

    Sports is there ok.
I dont have sports on my main package so no good to me.
I basically thought or was led to believe that you got your existing package.

You can add the sports but that instantly doubles the cost (more than by a couple of quid actually) and ESPN runs you an extra £9-12 alone (depending on whether you have the sports pack).

Basically if you’re not an existing Sky customer this is a complete rip, and the ‘entertainment’ selection is the sort of stuff that’d be on all the time in my personal Hell.
