Report – Call of Duty: Classic to re-release on PSN this week
TVGB are reporting that the PSN version of Call of Duty: Classic will get a US release this Thursday for $14.99.
Earlier tonight, the game was confirmed for an Xbox Live Arcade release on Wednesday for 1200 MS points.
A couple of weeks ago, during the launch week of Modern Warfare 2, Sony released the game for the European PlayStation Store. However, it was soon pulled.
Other then that, only people who have bought the Hardened or Prestige version of MW2 for either PS3 or 360 have got the game.
But now you can buy if you haven’t got neither SKU. Go nuts.
We’ll email Acti in the morning, and see if this applies to the UK as well.

Quantic Dream: “Games can be meaningful”
Speaking in an interview with Gama, Quantic Dream co-CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere has said that if done right, games could be “meaningful.”
He said: “I think that the most important goal for us is to show that video games can be more than just shooting, driving — that games can be meaningful.”
de Fondaumiere was talking in the interview of his hopes for the developer’s upcoming PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain, where he welcomed the coined term for the game “interactive movie.”
“The best short-form definition we found [for Heavy Rain] was ‘interactive movie,’ which is a double-edged sword quite simply because it reminds people of those games at the early ’90s when you were basically in a movie and you had the choice between going to the left or opening the door to the right — which of course Heavy Rain is absolutely not.”
Find more through the link. Heavy Rain is released next year.

Call of Duty: Classic gets XBLA release this week
Nelson’s confirmed that Call of Duty: Classic will be this week’s XBLA game, going for 1200 MS points.
If you have the Hardened and Prestige edition of Modern Warfare 2, you’ll probably already have it.
But for those of you who couldn’t afford £120 “stealth dogging/crusing” NVGs, in case you didn’t know, this is the remake of the original Call of Duty from way, way back in the day.
It was released on the PS Store a while back, but was then pulled soon after, so no date for the re-release yet.

Ubi shows €78 million loss for first-half 2009
Ubisoft’s confirmed a €78 million loss for the first half of the current fiscal year, ended September. The same period in 2008 saw a €33 million profit.
Revenue plummeted compared to last year, down to €166 million from €344.5 million in the previous corresponding period.
Ow.
“Ubisoft had a light first-half line-up, driving much weaker sales (down 52% vs. last year), with DS software piracy, lower catalog sales, and a continued weak retail environment all contributed to the decline,” said Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter in a note.
Ubi boss Yves Guillemot pointed to brightness from Assassin’s Creed II in the current half of the year, but warned against optimism related to Ubi’s Wii games.
“First week sales of Assassin’s Creed II, up 32%, with positive initial indications for the second week, combined with an overwhelmingly warm reception from gamers, validates our strategy of developing bigger franchises,” he said.
“Based on this initial data, Assassin’s Creed 2 looks well positioned to outstrip targets while our Wii games have got off to a more contrasted start in a less predictable arket.
“Finally, sales of James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game should benefit from the launch of the movie which is expected to be the biggest blockbuster of this holiday season.”
Hit this for the full joy.

Mark Ecko wanted to make a Macbeth game
Mark Ecko planned to release a game adaptation of Macbeth. Seriously.
“I completely re-imagined Macbeth,” he told Destructoid, but refused to elaborate because he doesn’t “want to give it away.”
Ecko reckons his title will bring Shakie to the Xbox generation. Seriously.
“Our adaptation, I think, would have made it relevant to people who wouldn’t have otherwise known about this great story,” he added.
“It’s unfortunate, because a lot of people just don’t know Macbeth.”
Seriously. Hit the link. Thanks, GoNintendo.

The Saboteur’s Sean to enjoy “great character growth, great story arc”

The Saboteur’s Sean Devlin is a “human” protagonist that’ll see real progression as a character throughout the Parisian WWII game when it’s released later this week, Pandemic’s Jim Ferri said at a recent French press event.
“We felt that our character should be relatable,” Ferri told Xboxygen in a video you can see after the break. “We felt that he should be a guy who’s coming up through the ranks, a guy that’s worked honestly as a mechanic.
“He has his flaws. We wanted him to be human, and so he’s got his good sides and his bad sides, but in the end he goes through great character growth and a great story arc.”
The game sees Devlin, a racing driver turned Resistance collaborator, fighting back the Paris occupation in a free-roaming adventure promised to last up to 25 hours.
“The game gives you the ability to move around Paris freely, and… even though it’s got a beautiful fantasy to it, it’s really grounded and based in real Paris,” Ferri added.
“It has the monuments, the Eiffel Tower, to Notre Dame, to all the great landmarks: the game does such a great job of representing this city.”
There’s plenty of gameplay footage in that movie. Looking none too shabby. It’s out on Friday for PC, 360 and PS3.

Aonuma refuses to rule out using “other forms” of technology in future Zelda games
Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has told Kotaku that he will consider using “other forms in technology” in future Zelda games, after the inclusion of a train in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.
He said: “Regarding use of other forms in technology in the future, as long it adds to the overall game experience and is something we feel the player would enjoy, we wouldn’t be afraid to implement it. As a matter of fact, we have used the Hook Shot in several previous games, which would be considered a very modern type of technology, even by today’s standards.”
Just dont go expecting iPhones or Blackberrys with access to Google Wave in a future Zelda.
