Actor David Sullivan announces his audition for inFamous sequel

infamous4

Looks like the role of Cole in inFamous is possibly being recast for a sequel, according to a Twitter post by actor David Sullivan.

Here’s the tweet:

First voiceover/motion capture audition today for a video game. Re-casting of Cole in the sequel of Infamous. “I’ll melt your face.” e.g

Looks like he’s being considered for the role of Cole.

Sucker Punch has hinted at the possibility of a sequel in the future, but nothing concrete was announced or hinted at.

Hopefully outing work on a sequel won’t hurt Sullivan’s chances of getting the gig.

Win Brutal Legend on 360 and PS3 by commenting!

brutallegendlogo

Update: We have winners!

They are:

  • FadeLive (360)
  • Pysk (PS3)
  • Tobinishi (360)
  • reask (PS3)

Congrats to them an’ all that.

EA just said we could have four copies of Brutal Legend to give to you, our loyal readers. We’ve got two on 360 and two on PS3.

To win, you have to do two things. Firstly, you have to comment. Whoever posts the 200th, 400th, 600th and 800th comments will get a copy of the game. We’ll alternate format, starting with PS3.

Secondly, you have to follow both @patlike and @vg247 on Twitter. No reason. We just want more people following us on Twitter.

For the record, we’ve sort of stolen this idea from Destructoid. It’s a form of flattery.

Get to it. Good luck!

BioWare has two years of DLC planned for Dragon Age: Origins

dragonage15

BioWare has revealed that there are two years worth of DLC planned for Dragon Age: Origins.

Revealed last week was day one content for the game, but that is just not enough in the developer’s eyes, and that’s good to hear.

“Yeah, we have plans that stretch out for basically two years,” executive producer Mark Darrah told The Game Reviews. “And it’s going to be everything from really small stuff like item packs up to larger quests that might last an hour or two up to even fully fledged expansion packs.

“Really it’s a broad long term support plan for the game.”

The DLC will land on all three formats.

Thanks, D’toid.

Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter Edition will run you $3k on eBay

uncharted2fortunehunter

Looks like a rare Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter Edition has been posted on eBay.

The poster says it was won during a tournament, so we are unsure if this was one of the ones Sony’s handed out this past weekend or not. Either way, it looks real.

So far, bidding for the limited edition is up to $3,050 – as of posting time – but if you are full of monetary fail at the moment, try getting one for free via D’toid’s Twitter Party.

Only 200 were made, so any way that you can get one – short of stealing or pimping yourself out – should be considered.

Assassin’s Creed III could have a World War II setting

assassinscreed232

Ubisoft has discussed the possibility of Assassin’s Creed III being set during World War II with a female assassin.

Speaking to Xbox World 360, producer Sébastien Puel said it would make having a female protagonist interesting due to the female-run economy of WWII-era France and England.

“We’ve had discussions on that very topic,” said Puel. “It could be really interesting but we’d need to find the right time period and place for that.

“Where would that make sense? We don’t want to just decide we want to change and have a female hero as the first inspiration is always the time period, but if you’re talking about, say, World War II the economies in England and France were run by women because the men were off fighting.

Adding that there’s always the possibilty for more than just triology, creative director Patrice Fortier piped in saying: “What’s so great about Assassin’s Creed is that we can just expand and expand. I’m often asked if we’re doing a third game after ACII… I mean, we could do 35 of these.”

Guess Puel forgot that America’s economy was run by women as well during WWII. Heck, if not for that, Marilyn Monroe would have been Norma Jean forever.

Kojima talks to Famitsu about Peace Walker cutscenes, screaming AI

mgspeacewalker3

A couple interesting tidbits regarding Peace Walker landed in this week’s issue of Famitsu.

One chats about how the game incorporates Yamaha’s Vocaloid software, allowing for in-game weapons that have AI installed in them to sing and scream at you while attacking.

The other is Hideo Kojima revealing that the 2D illustrated demo scenes you’ll see in-game are also interactive.

“During these demos, there are parts that the player can work by himself, moving the camera and looking around,” he said. “That was [art director Yoji] Shinkawa’s idea. There’s no huge penalty if you ignore it, but it works its way into assorted aspects into the game.”

Citing an example, Shinkawa popped in explaining that “if you zoom in on the scene where you first meet Paz, you can see the uniform she has on under her coat, and then what’s under that.”

As far as the future of the series is concerned, Kojima dons his mad scientist hat again and said that someday, portable games will not be bound by hardware capabilities.

“In the near future, though, we’ll have an era where you can just connect to a host computer with your portable and play all sorts of great games,” he said. “I’d like to experiment a little and see what kind of Metal Gear game would be best for that kind of environment.”

Channel 4 “not actively” bringing 4oD to Wii

4oD

Richard Davidson-Houston, head of online products at Channel 4, has told Weeman.com that currently, Channel 4 is not working on bringing its 4oD service to Wii like BBC iPlayer and Demand5.

Responding to comments made by 4oD customer support stating that “the 4oD service is not available to Wii users”, and that there are “currently no plans to introduce such a service”, Houston felt the need to clarify a bit.

“The ‘No plans’ you got from support is a simplification of the reality that we’re not actively working on a solution right now,” said Houston. “We blog at Platform 4 and are always keen to hear feedback and suggestions, so do pile in there if you have any more. You’ll see comments there about PS3 too.

“Thanks for keeping us on our toes.”

There’s always hope, we reckon.

Thanks, GoNintendo.

BioWare would “love to revisit” the Jade Empire franchise

jadeempire

BioWare lead designer Mike Laidlaw has said that the developer would love to revisit the Jade Empire franchise someday.

Speaking with Strategy Informer, Laidlaw mentioned that the game was a favorite among those at BioWare.

“We will certainly announce it if it’s going to be coming out,” he said. “At this point, Jade Empire is a staff favorite and a lot of us love it, so we’d love to revisit it at some point.

“But right now, we are very focused on Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2.”

We wouldn’t mind another Jade Empire, we reckon. This time around, maybe you could have a tent party with Dawn Star, Silk Fox and Sky at the same time on the eve of battle.

Cage: Comments that Heavy Rain’s nothing but a QuickTime Event are “absurd”

heavyrain

Quantic Dream’s David Cage has said, once again, that claims of Heavy Rain being nothing but a playable series of QuickTime events is “absurd”.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Cage said that all scenes involving a QTE are balanced and just like ones experienced with Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit).

“You control your character second to second,” he explained. “Then, when there is an action scene, we go to this [QuickTme] interface.

“The balance is the same as in Fahrenheit. No more, no less.”

Guess that nips that complaint in the bud then. More through the link.

fistofthenorthstar

Hokuto Musou has been unveiled a bit in Japan this week, and the new Fist of the North Star game is an action affair due to land on PS3 and Xbox 360 in the land of the rising sun during 2010.

According to 1UP, it’s a Dynasty Warriors-style game taking place in the world of the manga and anime series, and while details are still very minimal, the gameplay seems consistent with the Warriors style of play.

A release outside of Japan has yet to be announced and the teaser site still has an October 14 date attached to it.
