Really, with very few exceptions, it’s not just Nintendo, its Japan. The game floating out of that section of teh world are lack luster. Most are rehash. And more and more they being out sold and out shined by western games.

Disagree with Mr. Miyamoto, as I have constantly for over a decade now.

The mascot wars are long over, Shiggy. You won. Mario is on par with Mickey Mouse in recognizability. You don’t have to stick him and your other big franchises onto every new game concept.

@Spaced: Simple, by appealing to customers that neither know nor care about Nintendo’s originality problems with its “gamer” targeted franchises.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only person who feels Nintendo has been stagnant with their IPs. How much more milk can they attempt to suckle out of that nasty old plumber’s teet? How the Wii continues to sell how it does is beyond my understanding, though I admit there are a few games I’d like to play (Mad World, Muramasa) and trip the universe with Mario Galaxy and some LSD.

I’m surprised someone like Miyamoto hasn’t challenged himself to come up with AT LEAST ONE NEW killer IP every new system…(notice i said system and not generation there , meaning wii’s not current gen…)

I agree with the good doctor. By the looks of it Nintendo just dont want to bother making new stuff unless its a collection of mini-games to push some new Wii add-on.

Off the top of my head i can only think of Another Code as a new senario-orientated IP Nintendo made this gen. And that started on DS.

Exactly. Star Fox 1 and Star Fox 64 were the only good ones. Star Fox 2 had potential to be good based on the beta. The less said about Star Fox Assault and Command the better…

Most of the Star Fox games suck though. Its no surprise people dont like them.
