I read a N4g user say that the next insomniac game will rival Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 in terms of graphics. He claims he was at a open day for insomniac when they said this. Dont know about the credability of him though

@pracer
Yes - because they take them out of context and then present them to people who have little intention of understanding what was meant.

"Why do devs feel the need to constantly come out with this crap…"
Usually it's because they were asked the question by a journalist. You should be asking why *they* constantly ask these sort of questions.

FFS bxsentinel no it doesn't. I'm still amazed that people don't understand this.
Devs can max out a console's power but there are always ways to program code more efficiently so that ur squeezing more graphical/processing power out of the same hardware.

James Stevenson just said this right here:

'We’re using all of the PS3 right now, but you can always be more efficient in the way you use it'

If i were to create a program and code it myself it would be a very processor hungry piece of software because i can't program for shit. But if you get an expert to create the same program he's going to be able to optimise the code etc. and thus not need as much processing power for doing exactly the same thing.
This is why there are a couple of devs that license out their engines as they are experts in their field of work and can really squeeze out more 'juice from the orange' in comparison to other devs. Unreal 3, Crytek, id Software engine etc. all license out their engines so that less talented devs can still create good looking games and concentrate more on the gameplay and style of the game.

Why do devs feel the need to constantly come out with this crap...

There are some fundamental limits on the 360 and PS3 that no amount of 'clever coding' will overcome..

Namely, 128bit memory interface and 20-25Gb of bandwidth.

Those two factors ensure your not going to see anything fundamentally more advanced than UC2 on either platform.

I think good developers will always find ways to squeeze more out of consoles.
I mean just look at the way the PS2 got better and better.
