Grasp some straws and take with a pinch of salt as always, but this could be big.

In the latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, the magazine reports that Killzone 3 is in development at Guerrilla Games, and is actually being planned for a 2010 release.

The mag also mentions a sequel to Call of Duty: World at War from Treyarch and Resistance 3, but Killzone 3 is the big one.

The game wasn’t expected this soon, considering Killzone 2 only got a release this February after four years in development.

Exciting, yes. But do take with a pinch of salt.

    Too soon.

Unless they’re just tweaking everything on K2 and calling it a whole new release.

I can understand that they already have the engine made but it would really have to be at the very end of 2010 for them to have had enough time to create a solid sequel. End of 2010 would mean nearly 2 years of development which isn’t that short tbh. GTA:Vice City and San Andreas were both enjoyable games and they came out roughly 2 years apart right? Can’t quite remember…

joseangel – dats wut halo2/3 and gears2 basically were minus campaign.

also, – yeah, i doubt it’s gonna happen unless it ends up being KZ2′s odst.

The sequel won’t take nearly as long to put out as the first PS3 game because the technology is already there, but if I were Sony I’d be looking to give Resistance 3 and Killzone 3 some space from one another. The former will release October/November 2010 — that’s how Insomniac does things — so I wouldn’t expect Guerilla’s next game until a few months into 2011.

That really sounds like the future, doesn’t it? Now where are my pill meals…

I think its pretty obvious the release date is just wishful thinking.

Obviously it’s not going to be as long a wait this time out, as the engine will only need tweaking and polishing, but yeah, Christmas 2010 is about as early as anyone could possibly hope to see it.

I suppose given that Uncharted 2 took 18 months to develop, it’s within the realms of possibility.

K3 been in development while K2 was in development. Do some reeeeeeeeeeeeseeeeeeeaaaaaaarrrrch.

Plus, developers are getting the hang of the PS3 a lot easier and they have most of the tools ready, only need to update, add more, new ideas, etc. Similar to how PS2 was.

WTB Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner sequel PLEASE!
