Visceral Games has announced, via press release, that the Academy Award-nominated writer of Monster’s Ball, Will Rokos, is penning the storyline for Dante’s Inferno.
“Taking such a naturally rich and deep universe and adapting for the video game has been one of the most interesting and challenging projects I’ve worked on,” said Rokos. “I really got into re-imagining Dante as a flawed hero with a dark past, and his determination to save the love of his life from a terrible fate.
“It was a truly unique experience to re-create one man’s hell, one circle at a time.”
Rokos will be collaborating with the game’s creative team to craft an all new narrative that parallels the original poem, and is set to be released in North America February 9, 2010 and Europe on February 12 on PS3, PSP, and Xbox 360.

I can’t read that second paragraph without laughing.

Have you played the game. I think not so STFU. Visceral made a damn good game with Dead space and I don’t expect any less for Dante’s Inferno.

I think Aimless is pointing out that whether the game is good or not, a game developer talking about ‘re-imagining’ such a lauded creative piece as The Divine Comedy is rather chuckle some, and I agree, it is.
Game looks cool, but I doubt that Rokos or the developers have managed to artistically out-do the original. Also, TBH a flawed hero with a dark past struggling to free his love is about as cliche as you could get.
But… if I get it the script/story won’t be the motivator.
BTW, how can they be penning the script now? Hasn’t the story, etc. presumably already been locked, worked on, etc?

I think they are talking a movie of Dante’s Inferno. You are correct the content of the game would be locked and is now being debugged and polished.

As long as this hollywood guy doesn’t take away any of the gory violence or exposed titties, dicks, and vaginae or any objects that look like titties, dicks, and vaginae, I’m fine with it.
