Report: Visceral working on Jack the Ripper game

jacktheripper

Visceral’s third project is a Jack the Ripper game, according to the LA Times.

Citing “two sources close to EA,” the LAT points out that the use of historical material will give the developer free reign in a similar vein to Dante’s Inferno.

There’s no other detail through there. With Dante hitting early next year and Dead Space 2 also in the works, it’s unlikely you’re going to be seeing this for a while yet.

More proof? Check out these trademarks.

Thanks, superannuation.

Great, I hope it’s an fps and Jack’s a playable character. We need more nonsense like this that the Daily Mail can tar us all with…

Interesting choice of character and setting, could be difficult to translate to a videogame. Definitely one to keep on the radar, if true.

Excellent! I look forward to eviscerating prostitutes in smoggy London back-alleys.

What?

The CRL adventure based on Jack was the very first 18 rated game in the UK, I can’t actually remember how good it was as it was rather a long time ago.

Falco fan: Yes, it is. There are a variety of things that the most eagle-eyed do not notice.

Tonka, playing as Jack (interesting as it sounds) would open a huge can of worms, which I assume EA would prefer to avoid…

would some people actually enjoy playing as Jack the Ripper?

Tricky situation. I guess, it depends on how you portray him actually – certainly cannot afford to make him look like a hero; but, as already said, I really doubt it will happen like that anyway…
