Over 2.5 million copies of Tekken 6 shipped worldwide

tekken65

Namco Bandai has announced that over 2.5 million copies of Tekken 6 have shipped worldwide.

Games been out for just a couple days in the US and was released today in the UK.

Hopefully some sales figures will be released soon as well, so we can jump up and down for joy – or kick stuff, which would be more “Tekken style”, we reckon.

EA: “We need to realize that we tell traditional stories very badly”

armyoftwo40thday

Army of Two: The 40th Day’s director, Alex Hutchinson, has said that “player storytelling trumps game-authored story every time,” and that in the past, game makers aren’t so good at storytelling.

“We need to realize that we tell traditional stories very badly,” he told GamePro. “There are very few game stories that would get published in your average fiction magazine, and it’s not because we have bad writers.

“We enable other people’s stories, and that is so powerful and fresh that if we nail it… the sky’s the limit.”

Hutchinson chats more about storytelling ideals, and Army of Two: The 40th Day in the video posted below the break.

Thanks, GoNintendo.

L4D2: “Miracle Pack” and “Apocalyptic Pack” are spaceholder names only

left4dead22

During his Left 4 Dead 2 talk today at EG Expo 2009, Valve’s Chet Faliszek explained that the DLC pack names found in the demo were spaceholders only, put there as required test by Microsoft.

“If you’re reading in the forums and you’re reading about the “Miracle” DLC or whatever, that’s test code,” said Faliszek. “To get tested through Microsoft certification, we had to do test scenarios with DLC.

“We haven’t actually come out internally with what we’re going to do yet.”

Also, as far as the original survivors are concerned:

“They’re not dead, so we’ll see what happens with that,” he said. “They’re not undead either.”

There’s loads more through the links there.

The Saboteur developer diary talks seeing Paris, France, Nazi underpants

thesaboteur

OK maybe not underpants.

Anyway, a new developer diary was posted on the US PS Blog this week for The Saboteur.

In it, lead designer Tom French chats about how the team brought Paris to light amidst the crushing occupation of the Nazis.

French explains how the lack of color in the city represents the despair felt by the citizens, and as you fight back, color is restored due to the hope and inspiration you inspire in the inhabitants.

Nice to know you make a difference, somehow.

Full thing is through the link, and the game’s out on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 just in time to be put under your holiday tree.

Halloween: Game inspired pumpkins are awesome

halloweenpumpkin

Jack-o-lanterns with a gaming spin popped up over on Joystiq and Kotaku – and surely elsewhere – over the past few days, and since today is Halloween, we thought we’d give you links to pictures of what your gaming brethren created.

Our favorites so far have to be the Borderlands pumpkin over on Joystiq, and one of Pitfall over on Kotaku.

Nice to see such creativity. We’re already planning ours for next year.

Go have a look through the links.

Grow a mustache, become a character in Red Dead Redemption

magnumpi

Rockstar and the Movember Foundation are asking you to grow a mustache. Seriously. Like you need an excuse.

The purpose of Movember is to raise awareness for prostate cancer, and while the foundation wants you to grow one to show your support for finding a cure for it and other cancers, Rockstar says the best mustachioed male will end up as a character in Red Dead Redemption.

The contest kicks off tomorrow, and if you are willing to grow your very own lip caterpillar, go sign up on the Movember Foundation page, and on Rockstar’s contest site (links above).

Only catch is you must be clean shaven to begin with, even if you have a nice horseshoe, Sam Elliott or Freddie Mercury going on.

Full transcript of Heavy Rain presentation at Eurogamer Expo

heavyrain

David Cage presented Heavy Rain today during the last day of the Eurogamer Expo.

During his chat, he talked about levels, choice, sex, PS3′s prowess and other goodies regarding the game.

One of the scenes shown from the game was Hassan’s Shop which stars Shelby, the private detective, encountering a guy coming in to sack the store register.

Cage showed two different ways the scene can be played out – either by hitting the would-be robber over the head with a wine bottle, or talking him into leaving the store.

Eurogamer’s Ellie Gibson was on hand for the presentation and the Q&A that followed it, and lucky for us she livebogged the full thing.

The full transcript of it can be found through here.

New Mass Effect 2 footage shows Shepard vs. zombie apocalypse

masseffecta5

Ok, so technically they’re “Husks,” but if it looks like a zombie and talks like a zombie, then what is it? Don’t strain your brain too hard on this one.

Anyway, this trailer – courtesy of G4 – is two minutes and 43 seconds of fast bullets chasing down slow zombie-husk things. Shepard may have a quick tongue on him, but we have to admit that explosions and gunfire make for a better trailer.

Check it out for yourself after the break.

Nokia disengages N-Gage service

ngage

Nokia’s N-Gage service is a bit like Dracula as portrayed by the Castlevania series; it’s able to resurrect and revamp itself in a variety of forms, but in the end, its grandiose plans are thwarted by some guy with a whip. Or a lack of consumer interest. Whichever. So sayeth the N-Gage blog:

“N-Gage games can be purchased until the end of September 2010. While the N-Gage.com site together with the N-Gage Arena and other community features will remain in operation throughout 2010, the Ovi Store will be the new central place for all the mobile games that Nokia and other publishers offer from this point forward. We will no longer publish new games for the N-Gage platform.”

Other N-Gage features – like the N-Gage Arena and N-Gage.com – will recieve the wooden stake treatment after 2010.

More through the link.
