Older 360 games cannot be patched to work with Natal

natal4

Microsoft’s Kudo Tsunoda has said that it’s not possible to release a patch in order to make older 360 games work with Natal.

Speaking during a Natal demo of Space Invaders Extreme and Beautiful Katamari at TGS, Tsunoda told D’toid that a “significant amount of code” would have to be altered in the games, therefore, a “simple update wouldn’t be enough”, forcing a publisher to re-release the game entirely.

Sorry kids. No Bomberman: Act Zero Natal for you.

Video: Heavy Rain’s striptease scene shows Madison topless

heavyrain111

A clip from Heavy Rain, showing the infamous scene where Madison strips at gunpoint for a nightclub owner, has surfaced over on D’toid – which compares the scene to Jamie Lee Curtis’ in True Lies.

Unlike True Lies, this scene is not meant to be sexy.

If you have not seen it, well, like a lot of games lately, it shows her identical lady bits as the nightclub owner gets out of his chair to go grab her ass.

Before he can cop a feel though, thankfully, she smacks the creep upside the head with a lamp for his perversions.

Seems like sweater puppies are the “in” thing lately in Mature games. We blame Kratos.

Battlefield Heroes hits 2 million registered players, new content planned

bfheroes

EA has announced that Battlefield Heroes has hit the 2 million registered players mark.

To celebrate, the Heroes of the Fall update and a new map are on the way September 30.

“Along with this new map, ‘Heroes of the Fall’ includes a slew of changes including upgrades of the Gunner class and improvements to the friends system,” said Ben Cousins, general manager, Battlefield Heroes team. “We’ve also added a brand new ranking system for the game – players can earn cool new titles for their heroes as they play – showing everyone on the battlefield how dedicated they are.”

Set against the backdrop of autumn colors, the new map will be infantry-focused and set in a village with dozens of intersecting canals, battles taking place on the bridges and crossings, and alleyways and channels can be used to sneak up on enemies.

Starting today, EA is accepting proposed names for the new map over on the official website, where players can submit a proposed name for the map, and possibly have it selected.

Full thing is posted below.

Capcom releases a lovely fact sheet for Dead Rising 2

deadrising2

Capcom has released a fact sheet for Dead Rising 2, and it provides you with a background story on our new hero, ex-motocross rider Chuck Greene, and the zombie outbreak in Fortune City.

Here is just a smidgen:

Like millions of Americans, Chuck is gripped by the TV sensation that is Terror is Reality. Hosted by the flamboyant Tyrone King and ably assisted by his two glamorous co-hosts, Terror is Reality pits ordinary members of the public against an arena full of zombies with a simple challenge – kill more zombies than your opponents and stay alive. The lucky winner will collect big money and the chance to come back and secure even greater prizes.

Like a modern day gladiatorial contest, those lucky enough to get a grandstand seat urge the contestants to spill more zombie blood, with over the top takedowns greeted by rapturous applause and the promise of slow motion replays on the arena’s jumbotron. So, what is it that has forced Chuck to risk his life, is he trying to recapture the fame of his motocross days, does he have a reason to hate zombies, or is it simply the lure of big money?

Sounds terrific. The full thing is past the break.

Multiplayer details emerge for Dead Rising 2

deadrising25

You’ve heard about the moose head helmet, the weapons, the wheelchair, and many other wonderful things regarding Dead Rising 2 this morning, but now comes some more details on the multiplayer aspect.

Turns out, a series of multiplayer challenges for up to four players online include “jumping into giant hamster balls and mowing down the undead; seeing who can place the most drill buckets on zombies’ heads” and “taking to the arena on a motorbike with chainsaws for handlebars” and that trusty antler helmet.

There is also the option to “fight dirty” by messing with other players scoring.

Game is slated for release before March 31 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Thanks, Shack.

Video of RE5 working with PS3 motion controller

residentevil52

After the break. You can see very clearly what’s going on here. The game seems to work well with Sony’s wand, although the guy playing does appear to be holding both the motion controller and a standard pad. At the same time.

This is footage taken from yesterday’s Sony TGS press conference. PS3′s motion system is slated for a spring 2010 launch.

Thanks, Syrok.

White Knight Chronicles 2 – first trailer

whiteknightstory6

Decent quality shakycam footage of the White Knight Chronicles: Awakening of Light and Darkness trailer debuted at TGS yesterday’s after the break, thanks to Siliconera.

It’s all looking a bit Final Fantasy, but there’s some awesome CG going on there. Great turtle monster thing.

No date. PS3-only.

Thanks, GI.

Video – Natal demoed with Katamari and Space Invaders at TGS

nataltgs

Microsoft’s demoing Natal with Katamari and Space Invaders at TGS this week. You can watch a video of the Katamari demo after the break.

Get write-ups from Kotaku and IGN.

Looks as though it works, although that’s a lovely bright white room going on there. Project director Kudo Tsunoda told Kotaku there that the setting’s irrelevant thanks to the camera’s infrared sensor, though, and that the system can be used in total darkness.

If you say so, Kudo. Natal’s expected at the end of next year.

FFXIII – new gameplay videos

ffxiii31

A couple of new off-screen FFXIII gameplay movies after the break, one showing general character animation and the other showing combat. Neither have audio.

The Japanese version ships for PS3 in December. It’s looking pretty “swish,” to say the least.
