Now, about the 30 second mark, look closely. What do you see? A racing game for the portable, with the narrator of the ad stating you can “play games” on the device.

Considering Microsoft has been silent on having gaming capabilities for the Zune HD, this might be the confirmation needed.

Rumour – Epic Mickey to be revealed in next Game Informer

epicmickey

Hot dog.

A teaser in the most recent edition of Game Informer – you know, the one with Ninja Theory’s Enslaved and Crackdown 2 – has paved the way for a reveal of Epic Mickey in the next issue of the magazine.

The page shows Mickey’s head, but not the face in a massive black ink stain, with a message which says, “Something EPIC is brewing.”

Don’t know what it is? This is the game Warren Spector and Junction Point apparently have in development, since the developer was bought by Disney in 2007. It’s apparently a Wii game.

Thanks, Nintendo Everything.

Bomberman’s next target: DSiWare

bombermanlive

According to this week’s Famitsu release list (via AndriaSang), Bomberman’s bringing his adorable brand of arson to the DSi’s download service in October.

Or at least, that’s the date for Japan, anyway. Hudson hasn’t actually announced the game yet, though, so the what’s, when’s, and why’s of the West are still up in the air.

We’ve contacted Hudson for more info. Here’s hoping the publisher gets back to us soon, maybe with some news on the long-awaited Bomberman: Act Zero sequel.

Mad Catz Modern Warfare 2 gear looks glowy, green

modernmouse

If you want to dress for success on the battlefield, grab some muted browns or greens and – poof – you’ll disappear. If we’re talking about war-based videogames, however, that’s a different story.

Mad Catz has posted the first shots of its Modern Warfare 2-based line of controllers, keyboards, and faceplates, and well, let’s just say that if you’re planning on gaming in the middle of a high-pressure warzone, you might want to pass on these.

They’re quite ostentatious, if you ask us. And very glowy. If your LAN party is also a rave party, Mad Catz has you covered.

XBL Game with Fame hints at L4D Crash Course drop date?

left4deada7

When is L4D’s Crash Course DLC hurtling onto our gaming systems? No one knows. But a recent Xbox Live Game with Fame announcement might be dropping hints about the DLC’s drop date.

“If you’re an Xbox LIVE Gold Member, and you want a chance to play the new Crash Course add-on for Left 4 Dead, send a friend request to the following Gamertag and be online half an hour before (5:30 P.M. Central Time) the Game with Fame session starts on Wednesday, September 23, at 6:00 P.M. CT,” says the announcement.

September 23, eh? Granted, “a chance to play” seems to suggest that it might just be a preview event, but the DLC is supposed to be out before September ends, so anything later would be cutting it close.

We should mention, however, that – if you choose to partake of Crash Course as part of this promotion – you’ll be staving off the zombpocalypse with pop-rock group Paramore.

Are we wrong in having our worlds turned upside-down by the idea that there’s apparently audience overlap between teeny-bopper bands and Left 4 Dead? Seems like a bit of an odd mix to us.

Castlevania ReBirth is next Konami title to be Wii-incarnated

castlevania_theadventure

First Contra and Gradius got the “ReBirth” treatment, and now – if a recent ESRB listing is to be believed – Castlevania is next in line.

Titled “Castlevania the Adventure ReBirth,” the game’s ESRB description is as follows:

“This is a side-scrolling action game in which players battle against monsters in Dracula’s castle. Players use a chained whip to fight their way through halls and dungeons filled with zombies, skeletons, flying eyeballs, and bats. The enemy creatures frequently shoot projectiles and attack players in hand-to-hand combat. If players sustain too much damage, they keel over and emit a burst of red blood. Some rooms in the castle also have spikes or spears stained with red, blood-like splotches.”

Title sound familiar? That’s because a series entry on the Game Boy shared the same moniker. Could this be that game’s Dracula-esque resurrection? Probably. Either that, or Konami just loves confusing us.

Oh, the game will be rated “T,” in case you were wondering. That is sort of the whole point of this ESRB thing, isn’t it?

Weekly MMO news round-up, September 12: Star Wars has zombies, The Secret World’s not so secret anymore

thesecretworld

  • Massively had a chat with Stew Chisam, VP of game operations at Hi-Rez Studios, during DragonCon last week. It’s a video interview, and in it, Chisam chats about how well things are going with Global Agenda since the two closed Betas. If this game has been on your radar, you should check out what Chisam had to say here.
  • Ultima Online’s new expansion, Stygian Abyss, has been released and is now available for download on the game’s website. It will run you $29.99.
  • The Secret World was all over PAX. Massively was lucky enough to get a preview of the game, Gamespot provided impressions, and Eurogamer talked to Funcom’s Ragnar Tornquist who told the site all about it. Wanna know all about the three different factions, the lore, and see some screens? Then hit all three links for information overload.
  • The clown Malatina offers a new solo challenge for plucky adventurers in Runes of Magic. Once per day, she will give players the opportunity to enter a obstacle-packed dungeon, which will be included in the update for the full launch of ‘Chapter II – The Elven Prophecy’, on September 15. Hate clowns, man. US servers will be brought down for 24 hours starting Monday, Sept. 14, at about 3 a.m. PST until Tuesday, Sept. 15, at about 3 a.m. PST. During that time, the forums and Runes of Magic Web site also will be down. All systems will return Tuesday, Sept. 15, at about 3 a.m. PST. The forums and Web site will have a new design to match Chapter II: The Elven Prophecy. More details are through here.
  • Before you get surprised and start screaming “Oh Noz! You’ve got zombies in my Star Wars Galaxies!”, read up on it via the official Random House website. Apparently, SOE and LucasArts are adding zombies as part of an October event called Death Troopers, which ties into the horror-themed novel of the same name by Joe Schreiber.
  • ROHAN: Blood Feud (Renaissance of Human and Nature) now has one million accounts. Cool. To celebrate, the team are holding Million Member Mania events from now until September 21, where players who win the various games included will be awarded with one million in game currency. Very cool. More through Massively.
  • The Aion team is aware of issues with lag, the authentication server, gameguard anti-cheating program, forum authentication script, and beta key release schedule, and are devoting resources to finding out the cause. Rest assured, a patch will be released ASAP. Good to know. More on that here. Thanks, Massively.
  • Dungeons & Dragons Online went free-to-play in North America this week, and to get you excited for it, Rock, Paper, Shotgun has a couple videos posted, along with some information on it. If that just isn’t quite enough to placate you, Massively has a launch day news round-up for the title. Hooray!
  • Karos Online is currently in closed Beta, and other than some interesting bits to PvP, the game takes a different approach to crafting and hobbies than what you may be used to in an MMO, by incorporating both into an alternate character progression tree. Also, instead of running around looking for mats, you may end up fighting over them instead, such as through the mining area which will be rife with PvP. More through the link.
