Former Disney chief Michael Eisner has formed his own production studio, The Tornante Company, and since he owns the rights to the MechWarrior franchise, this new company is in the process of getting a film made of the series.

According to a source of Joystiq’s, the movie is expected to help capitalize on the upcoming MechWarrior game from Piranha, is currently “in development”, and was written by Michael Gordon (300, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) who also penned the script for the EverQuest movie.

Load of bollocks, this will never happen.

A mechwarrior movie would be pretty stupid too, dont get me wrong I love the games but the premise of robots as tall as buildings fighting each other is pretty silly. And has been done by Transformers which is what I’m guessing their hoping to ride that cheesy bandwagon on.
