Uncharted 2 review embargo lifts: It’s Eurogamer’s first PS3 10

TEA – it’s not just the PS3′s atrocious UI, it’s all those unbelievably long install and load times, too. I think of my XBL Gold subscription fee as paying to avoid supremely lengthy mandatory game installs, firmware updates and patches.

It got great reviews and probably deservedly so.
So have plenty of others.

Heh. Clean, simple to use and easy to access what you want. Oh so very atrocious. Light on features compared to the NXE certainly but it’s miles ahead in terms of design and usability. NXE has too many ways to get to the same place and when you back out you don’t always back out to where you came from. Not to mention the flood of advertising and crap it compels you to look at.

There’s advertising on the NXE? If so, I’m completely unaware of it.

Also, you are factually wrong about it being miles ahead in terms of design and usability. So ner.

The XMB is fine, and just that. It’s not amazing, but it does the job well enough.

The NXE is good, but behind the XMB in terms of ease of use. There are a few annoying features with the XMB, but NXE has many more.

Having said that, on a gaming level, the NXE wins hands down in terms of features and functionality. Parties, cross game chat, so many more details on other gamers, like location, etc…

+1 to the idea that the XMB wins on usability (I also rather like the little background glitter effect they’ve put in recently), but the NXE pulls ahead on functionality. At the end of the day neither interface is “broken”. Horses for courses and all that.

XMB vs NXE call it what it is. PSN vs LIVE. Yea LIVE beats it every way except one: Price. Period, end of story.

I wonder how many multiplayer maps will ship with game. Current count based on these videos and beta puts it at 7. (8 if you count co-op demo)

Had a quick blast of the multiplayer last night and its impressive stuff.

I thought it’d turn out to be just an afterthought but I can see this getting popular. I’ve never been a big fan of 3rd person shooters but I can see myself spending a lot of time with this once I’m finished with the single player.

PS EU Blog, when they announced the public multiplayer demo they said that there were 3 more maps in the full game to join the 4 in the demo.

Listen,(well read) I never intended for my first comment to sprout into a ball of rage. I simply think that UC and Gears are comparable because they were M$ and Sony’s major holiday titles for the first annual year on the market. They are both 3rd person shooters and while they do have unique gaming elements from one another anybody with a brain can see my point that they fall into the say category.

You people forget that RFOM was compared to Gears1 in 2006. They are totally two different genres, but did that stop every 360 fanboy site from saying Gears shits on RFOM. NO it didn’t. When in common sense RFOM should have been compared to PD:zero (both launched titles). Does that make sense? So my (opinion) on UC2 vs Gears2 should sound just as valid am I right?

JonFE I agree with you 110%. I have never disputed those reasons. It happened with the PS1, it happened with the PS2. So no one should really be stunned by that obvious fact. But doesn’t that apply for the 360 as well? What did it have at launch that was so awesome you had to go out and spend $400+ dollars. Some xbox owners have paid top dollar for their 360′s with little to offer on day 1, and still refuse for foolish self ignorant reasons why they won’t buy a PS3 which is half the price now,offers more value, and has the best exclusives in any genre.

That my friends is what you call a “FANBOY”. You all call me a fanboy and to some degree that is true, but if I were one completely then how was I able to see past all the negatives the 360 has and still purchase one. I play games on 360, PC, & PS3… I just want to play games that are great. I have no Loyalty to a system builder. Why should anyone? I just doesn’t make sense, not like those companies are continually doing anything for you. They made hardware.. woop de doo… my only preference for systems is becuase I think the 360 controller is 10x more comfortable than the PS3 controller designed for small hands (mine cramp after 30 mins of PS3 controllers). But I love games, last great game on the PS3 for me was Infamous and REALLY looking forward to U2
