Resident Evil 5 motion control version might be coming to Xbox 360 – sans motion controls

Last week’s TGS brought word of a PS3 motion-doohickey-specific version of Resident Evil 5, which – for obvious reasons – people figured was taking up residence only in Sony Land. However, if a recent Degenki Online report (via IGN) is to be believed, the Xbox 360 will also be receiving a slice of the motion-enabled slaughter.  Without the motion control.

Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition, as it’s known, will also include a bonus mission set within the mansion from the original Resident Evil. According to Degenki, this mission will leap the fence into Xbox territory via a “different format.” DLC? Probably.

It they’re talking about the mansion shown on the leaked trailer then thats totally untrue, its not the one from RE1. They’re RE noobs. :D

Don’t you find it a bit worrying that Capcom announced almost simultaneously that two of its biggest franchises will get last years’ releases re-released in alternate/refined form?

Not really, this is Capcom after all. Re-release stuff is what they do.

Pretty much everyone’s at it, though – there seem to be more ‘game of the year’ versions of last year’s stuff than actual new stuff this Christmas.

So what we learn is… there’s no point buying anything at release. Wait a year and pick up the repackaged version with a big bundle of extras for half the price.

Well, atleast GOTY editions tend to just come with all the extra downloadable stuff, so in the end you can buy it all separately for the original copy. Capcom add content thats exclusive to their newer versions; You want a sip of the milk you’re gonna have to buy the whole cow first.

If they’re going to release the new level as DLC for Live then I can’t imagine they won’t do the same for the PS3 version, though. I’m guessing you’ll only need to pick up the new version if you want the waggles.
