PSPgo will launch with 16K bits of DLC in the US

Sony has sent over a bit of PSPgo launch information to IGN that you may find interesting.
On October 1, 16,000 pieces of digital content will be available for the PSPgo in the US which includes:
- 225 games (combination of full PSP titles, PSN exclusives, UMD legacy titles and Minis)
- 2,300 movies
- 13,300 television episodes
- Gran Turismo, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny and God of War: Chains of Olympus
- PlayStation Network Game Cards allowing the download of games like Gran Turismo, Daxter, Patapon 2, Secret Agent Clank and Twisted Metal: Head-on.
That’s a lot of stuff right there.
Full thing through the link.

Wait a sec, is there a fairly significant secret announcement in there?
“PlayStation Network Game Cards allowing the download of games like Gran Turismo, Daxter, Patapon 2, Secret Agent Clank and Twisted Metal: Head-on.”
If that means what I think it means, we could see places like Amazon sell codes for downloadable PSP games as they currently do for some XBLA releases. That might not seem that significant, but it opens the doors to retailers price matching and having sales, meaning digital game prices wouldn’t be entirely at Sony’s mercy.

Oh, I don’t particularly care about the Go, but I would be interested in digital downloads for my regular PSP if they’re a reasonable price; it’s better than playing from a UMD in pretty much every respect.

Just drop the ‘K’ and you have the amount of European DLC right there…unless Sony pull a massive turnaround in the next couple of weeks, and going on previous SCEE history I wouldn’t hold my breath, the PSPgo is going to be DOA.

europe? i was tempted to get a psp go…i was very happy with my psp. but i sold it a while ago. i was waiting for ms to come out with a mobile gaming device linking up to xbl but i´ve been waiting far too long. i go with an an ipod touch for my mobile gaming now…i was hoping for the zune hd, but ms did a poor job untill now to marketing it´s gaming ambitions…the zune hd is pretty powerfull and i believe it will become a cool gaming device in the near future, but ms putted some crappy games on it, announced just a few games to come this far and…most importantly…did not say anything about an european release. this sucks. i like the ipod touch, but i wish it had a better graphics card and processor. come on ms, bring this thing to europe and deliver with awesome games. with great games it will sell like hot cakes…

I give less of a shit over how much is available, much more concerned with how much Sony want to charge for it.
