Splinter Cell: Conviction was “meant for the Xbox 360″ says producer

Ubisoft has suggested that the Xbox 360 version of Splinter Cell: Conviction will take full advantage of the console’s strengths.
“There’s going to be a really strong partnership with Microsoft,” producer, Alexandre Parizeau told CVG. “Obviously we’ll do everything that we can do to make sure that the experience is indebted with whatever the Xbox has to offer.
“I want to make sure that when the game hits the shelves the disc will ‘meld’ with your Xbox 360 – it’s meant for the Xbox 360 and it will show.
“We’ve been working with Microsoft for a while now. We’ve been working with their engineers – we’ve had super good feedback from them on all sorts of different things. It’s been a really good partnership with them.
“They’re backing us up. There’s no question that they’re supporting the game to its fullest.”
Full thing through the link.

Flash forward to this time next year:
“Splinter Cell: Conviction – Play It Again Sam Edition really harnesses the power of Blu-ray and the PlayStation 3. We’ve been working with Sony for a while now and they’re really behind the project. Be sure to check out the exclusive Home Space!”

To clarify my comment wasn’t anti-Microsoft, I was merely highlighting the fragility of exclusivity these days. Ultimately if a deal is based on money than the prospect of the publisher making more money at a later date isn’t going to conflict with any sort of meaningful relationship or IP ownership.

People have been hating on MS since Windows 95.
Because they rarely – if ever – live up to their promises.

I don’t know why people report any of the shit developers come out with like this. It’s simple PR, bought and paid for with the exclusivity.
…and we fall for it hook line and sinker. Every time. Or at least the journalists do. Don’t suppose we can blame them though. Every site needs their hits. Maybe it really is our fault.
Wait… what am I talking about?

This looks quite good. I’m eagerly anticipating the announcement of a PS3 version with additional content.

That’s a nice soundbite but what does it really mean? What gameplay or graphical features does that translate to?

Did you play the original Xbox version, Mike? Apparently it was much better than the 360 and PC iterations.

Same with Double Agent, the pacing was ridiculously slow and the rare enemies that were actually in a level (honnesly i think only 2 locations had over 10-15 in all the game) seemed to be as dumb as a pile of bricks.

But Double Agent on PS3/360 was Shanghai, which is why it was shit.
I have only been told that SA on Xbox/PS2 is great. Once again it’s the Chaos Thoery team.

“Our game is amazing on Game Machine X and couldn’t have been done on any other game machine other than Game Machine X”, says man paid to write game for Game Machine X by manufacturer of Game Machine X. Film at 11!
