I thought the DS was the most popular hardware in all territories. What is he complaining about? The lack of Japanese FPS games?

Well thank fuck they haven't got stuck in that rut.

I don't think they're 'finished', but they certainly don't seem to be showing many signs of getting back into the game, a few examples aside. This generation has been weird - the West has embraced the new technology and really run with it, but Japan seems to have become almost introverted - rather than branching out and trying new things they seem to have become even more focussed on their home market and the lower-tech end of the scale. That's not entirely surprising given that the DS is still the most popular hardware over there, but can an entire games industry survive by supplying just its local market? On the whole the West isn't nearly as interested in Japanese output as it used to be, and that's going to be a very big problem for them in the future.

i cant help but feel there a tad pessimistic over there, what with stuff like TLG, 3d block heroes, demons souls, echochrono, valkyria and okami sequels. There are fresh new titles coming. Its just they've got so much more competition now from developers all over the world.

Mushroom, that's one of the most frustarting sentiments to read.

Clunky can fuckign work. Nothign is wrong, nothing is bad. We need to start seeing past that. There are creative choices, THAT is all.

Games don't all need to be a bundle of fun, thats not opinion, thats balance. Thats such a fucking Shigeru Miyamoto inspired misdirection. His influence is certainly not all roses, not that it would not have been somone else had it not been him.

I agree that Japanese game have gotten stale. Mostly the gameplay. They are still using old clunky control and game mechanics. The RPGs are tired and slow and action games.. well.. look like they never moved past 2002.

Have to admit, this years TGS is abit crappy. Theres just nothing new coming out of it, i think the only games announced were Sony's 8 motion games and most of them sound like vanilla PSN games without even a piece of artwork to back any of them up.
You could argue that we've seen some new footage but its still stuff from already announced games.
