Final Fantasy Versus XIII gets new screens

ffversusxiii2

Square’s released some TGS-flavoured Final Fantasy Versus XIII shots today, no doubt giving the PS3 faithful an extra line of hope. Get them from IGN.

The RPG looks spectacular, as you’d expect. Definitely more subdued than its Lightning-based counterpart.

No date.

I like the styling of this a lot more than vanilla FFXIII. I wish they’d hurry up and show us the actual game, though.

Doesn’t hold even a tiny candle to FFXII’s amazing design.

Michael, maybe you can say that when we see more than one scene :D

I like it, becuase it gives me a more grounded vibe. I am thinking OC in Japan element of Persona, mixed with the fantasy from… Well guess.

The horrendously generic design of the lead character is enough to put me off, not to the mention the pretentious teen angst that *always* plagues the children of these games blessed with such weather-resistant hair.

Generic generic generic.

I don’t care about teen angst. I don’t care about spikey haired teenagers, and I most definitely don’t care about Nomura’s repetitive and creatively barren character designs. Give me something at least *slightly* original, thank you.

I could care less how pretty it looks if it’s unoriginal and generic. It’s like a vacuous super model; she might be pretty to look at, but she’s ultimately dull to be in the presence of.

O’connor I agree FFXII did have amazing style. I want to go back and play it now.

While I don’t necessarily disgree with the spiky hair and the angst, the cast of Versus do at least appear to be a little older than your usual bunch of spiky angsty teens.

FFXII’s stylings really didn’t do much for me, tbh. Each to their own, though!

“O’Connor I agree FFXII did have amazing style. I want to go back and play it now.”

Ivalice is one of the most scenic, natural and detailed universes that Square has ever invented. It’s a pity that Square Enix sticks to such stereotypical and generic design choices *far* so much, because when they’re given the freedom to be creative, they really, really sign.

Angsty-teen-boy-who-can-barely-see-through-his-hair and Mrs. Cloud Strife are not creative. Everything about FFXIII so far screams “generic” and “derivative” to the point of obsolescence.

“While I don’t necessarily disgree with the spiky hair and the angst, the cast of Versus do at least appear to be a little older than your usual bunch of spiky angsty teens.”

So far, they just look like a bunch of Turk rip-offs. Inanely so.
