We’re going to play Assassin’s Creed II – what do you want to know?
Guess what? We’re going to play through the entire TGS build of Assassin’s Creed II in London next week. That’s the good bit.
Here’s the better bit. We want to know what you want to know about the game. Ask us questions and we’ll answer them.
We can’t do the playtest live, as we did with Far Cry 2 at Ubi’s office last year. We were hoping to, but all the content’s going to be embargoed until TGS itself opens next week, so you’ll have to ask the questions in advance. As soon as the Makuhari Messe doors part, we’re assured, we’ll be able to go live with all the details. It’s a general embargo, so you’ll see a ton more stuff from other sites at the same time as well.
So. What do you want to know?

See if they’ll let you anywhere near a ps3 build or not…

I’ve no idea what format it’ll be, to be honest. They demoed it on 360 at GamesCom.

All the animation questions – how many more frames to perform similar actions does the new game have; how many frames just for getting up/off a horse/carriage etc; what was the trickiest/most laborious thing to animate; what key animations are they most proud of and what would they most like us to notice?
Are the NPC character models improved to match the quality of the player character model?
Are there day/night cycles this time round? If so, how does that effect the shopping mechanic?
What are the “wow” moments in the game that match riding out over the hilltop across from Damascus, Acre or Jerusalem and seeing the whole city spread out before you, before going on to explore it in real-time without a loading screen?
Has the free-running/parkour become more complex? Are there any differences in the control scheme? Can you grab ledges straight away, or will we have to wait for that to be upgraded again?
Are there still old-school adventure game type elements in the part of the game that’s set in the future?
Will there be flags and, if so, will they be fun to collect this time round?
Any sex? Is Ezio a bit of a ladies’ man?
Does Kristen Bell get her tits out?

@Pat Fair enough. If you could ask them about the ps3 build and see if they start shuffling their feet and muttering or not

AC2 was shown on PS3 at E3 if i’m not mistaken, though it would be interesting to bring it up atleast in relation to the first games PS3 version and how it ran.

01. Is there any combat under water?
02. Will Ezio be able to rock enemies off boats?
03. Will there be difficulty levels this time?
04. Will Ezio get alternative costumes upon completion of
certain tasks or difficulty levels?
05. Will Ezio be able to do horizontal wall runs like the
prince could in prince of persia and leap from one
wall to the next?
06. Will Ezio be able to throw weapons he picks up at
opponents?
07. Will Ezio be able to wield two weapons simultaneously
other than the hidden twin blades?
08. Will there be opponents much larger/much stronger than
Ezio where direct combat will be useless, forcing Ezio
to find other ways to control/defeat said opponents?
09. Will Ezio be able to use a bow and arrow? Will he be
able to attach a rope to the arrow to use it to
navigate to areas that are otherwise not possible to
reach?
10. Will there be environmental puzzles?
11. Will there be any aerial combat, especially against
opponents that are also in the air?
12. Will Ezio get any weapons that can dismember opponents?
13. Will Ezio be able to use the environment to defeat his opponents? E.g., be able to throw a knife at a torch above a guard so it lands and burns him up or make something heavy fall on someone and crush them to death.
14. Will there be playable characters besides Ezio?
15. Will Ezio meet Galileo Galilei and be able to use his telescope to ignite weapons that he can throw or shoot? E.g., flaming arrows.
16. Will Ezio be able to insult opponents in order to lure them into a compromised position? E.g., insult an opponent only to get them to foolishly rush towards Ezio, Ezio swiftly dodges, and the opponent collides with his associate or runs into a wall or into the water.

How much is the gelato close to the Campanile compared to the one over by the Rialto bridge?
oSeriously though, how accurate is the map(s)?

How integral are the guns to the combat? Can you treat fights like a straight up shooter? How often does each mission type repeat in the main storyline/ whole game? Are you going to be able to take out targets without being detected or are you still going to have to leg it as soon as their corpse hits the floor?

All good stuff. I’ll stick it all in a doc and work through it systematically. I’ve got an hour with the game, apparently.

In AC 1, stealth meant moving slowly. If you ran or if your horse galloped you were automatically spotted. And all enemies were apparently also in radio contact with each other since guards on the other end of the city or road that never had any contact with the ones who spotted you now also knew you were an assassin.
Is this still an issue or has the stealth gameplay been refined?

Doubt Galileo Galilei is in it, he wasnt born or atleast wasnt an adult when AC2 is based.

Well hopefully, there is still a way to ignite weapons that are flammable.

Being be able to use the environment to defeat opponents is a great question. I’d love to know if this or any other forms of emergent gameplay are in the game.

I’ll ask them about that, yeah. I think that’s the elephant in the room at the moment.

Tell them they’re so awesome for the music choices in the two trailers for the two AC games with UNKLE and JUSTICE.
Seriously, how much more variety will there be in the game compared to the last one? And be very specific on it.
Thats the only one I have drummed up for now, but I might come up with more before I leave tonight.

Oh, one last question. Any other vehicles or modes of transportation in the game besides the hang glider, or like the horse is AC1? Thanks!

Ah, thought of another one.
With Altair having to lose a finger for his hidden blade, how does Ezio not lose two fingers for his two hidden blades?

Indeed, the lost fingure seemed to be apart of being an assassin, even that women at the end of the first game had it missing. Infact it seemed to be what proved she was one of them.

To add about free running, i’d specifically like to know if we get to time jumps ourselves, specifically can you launch yourself towards a grip higher up the wall before you actually reach the foot of the wal

oh, and combat, can the player learn or perform special or advanced attacks similar to counters in the original but with better user input i.e. button combos for specific moves?

Ask them why they included a cape on Ezio, if they can’t make it move properly, and constantly looks like shit. They need to headhunt the ‘Cape Physics Specialist’ from Rocksteady. Don’t actually ask that by the way.
But a good question is whether we can still fall from impossibly high heights and survive, and whether we have an absolutely massive synchronisation (health) bar this time.

Please ask if it’s possible to complete the game the game without using Leonardo’s fucking stupid flying inventions.
I don’t want to fly you French prats.

I just want to know if the environment kills are more convincing this time, the animation and ragdoll blending when throwing people off building or into stalls/woodpiles was fairly lame.
