Screenwriter Roger Avary and producer Samuel Hadida have both signed on for a sequel to the first Silent Hill film, which both had a hand in.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, filming for the sequel is set to start next year after the fourth Resident Evil is finished up.

Avary’s also working on the screenplay to the Return to Castle Wolfenstein film.

The first Silent Hill movie $47 million in the US alone.

More videogames getting raped. Well atleast the first Silent Hill movie was ok. Well i mean it was ok as a stand alone movie, it still took a shit all over SH’s original plot.

I liked it. I agree wasn’t Silent Hill but it did have the artistic value that Silent Hill had. If I were to make a movie of SIlent Hill I would go with the route of Silent Hill 2. No real explanation of how or why. You are there, also no action please, we don’t need action in SIlent Hill thats blasphemy.

I liked the first Silent Hill movie, way more than any other game adaptation that springs to mind. It may have strayed from the plot and mythos more than a bit, but let’s face it, what game/comic/novel based film doesn’t? The likes of Sin City notwithstanding, they pretty much all do, both because they choose to and have to, because the source material is not usually structured with visual presentation and 2-3 hour pacing in mind… even well-recieved and successful adaptations like Lord of the Rings, The Shining or the Bond films have to take massive liberties to come across well on screen. Despite all that, Silent Hill got the look and feel of the game spot on, and that’s the best you can hope for, really.
