US PSN update, September 10 – TMNT, Blood Omen, Silent Hill

bloodomen

The US PS store update this week is rockin’ if we do say so ourselves, what with Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain being made available.

There’s also, TMT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, Silent Hill, Syphon Filter 2, and demos for Katamari Forever, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, and TMNT.

Add-on content includes Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 Gary Player, UFC 2009: Undisputed Additional Fighters, High Velocity Bowling, George Takei for PAIN, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Juggernaut Playable Character, Red Faction Guerrilla Multiplayer Pack 2, and the usual Guitar Hero and Rock Band stuff.

PSP gets WipEout Pulse, Wild Arms XF and a demo for Half-Minute Hero along with Love Spreads by The Stone Roses and I Stand Alone by Godsmack for Rock Band: Unplugged.

Themes, videos and the rest can be found over on the US PS Blog.

I had to buy Blood Omen for the PS1 for £30 off ebay after playing Soul Reaver.

Finally get my Turtles! =)
And exactly 1 month after X360 timed exclusive to the tee! Nice surprise on the powers that be actually getting this one out on time!

Also, I have to say I think the reviews were way too unfaily harsh on this game. It’s a classic 2D side scrolling, button mashing, beat-em-upper, with 4 player online co-op, updated sharp and colorful HD visuals, easy trophies, $10 digital purchase.

Surley not without it’s faults.. The music in general is pretty plain and lame, while the opening sequence audio is somehow wrongly coded, and needs to be patched quickly. The opening cinemas audio is distorted as hell and I (along with a buddy) had to turn both our hdtv’s all the way down to like 3% volume while we’re normally at around 40%. Luckily, the game goes to normal audio levels remainder of the game. It’s also very repetive and simple button mashing behavior the entire way through. Nothing more, nothing less.

Were you people expecting anything else from an 18 year old game REMAKE???

A metacritic average score of 59 (1-100) from 37 critic reviews is a bad score. I’m just surprised at the number of people who complained about this game. It’s the original TMNT:TIT;) slightly modified, with an updated coat of HD paint in a new modern day digital package.

Sure some could argue it’s an inferior version to the originals hence the lower score, but I guess that’s simply a matter of opinion as I loved the original SNES version (and HOPE they add this or arcade version playable via DLC), and…IMO…I view this as an upgrade.

I’m sorry. I just realized how long and ridiculous this winded reply must be. Aren’t all reviews just a matter of personal preference anyway……..what’s the point really….just babbling at this juncture.

Anyway, good update today. My compliments to the chef.

“Yeah that’s my opinion, so what, you wanna fight about it?” (family guy reference, don’t panic)

P.S. With rumors of NFS:Shift demo and next weeks release, here’s hoping this gem looking title is on the list of next week updates!
