Microsoft will only do a Natal Halo when “it makes sense”

Microsoft’s Alex Cutting, Halo 3: ODST producer, has told VideoGamer that as far as a Natal version of Halo is concerned, the firm will only do it “when it makes sense”.

“A lot of people are interested in what Natal’s presence in Halo’s going to be,” he said. “We are committing to only doing it when it makes sense. We are not going to produce a gimmicky feature that just takes advantage of motion controls when it doesn’t feel right.

“We’re going to make the games we want to play. We’re not going to make a feature that’s not fun. If there’s an opportunity to do it, we will definitely investigate it. If it’s fun we will leave it in the game. But further than that, I can’t tell you any specific plans.”

As far as I can tell, Halo: Reach will be released Autumn 2010, while Natal is rumored to be released Winter 2010. If that turns out to be true, I really doubt that Microsoft will pass on the opportunity to release Natal without a big seller (as Halo: Reach is bound to be) offering support for it.

Why would they stop supporting their biggest franchise? Would you ask Nintendo to stop making Mario games?

I used to like Halo but I’ve lost interest in it after getting my arse kicked in the MP far too often… that coupled with the last 2 games having pretty weak single player campaigns.

Nothing they’ve done has come close to the Silent Cartographer level of Halo 1
