Gaikai works – video proof from Germany

gaikai

IGN’s just posted a video of Keza MacDonald playing WoW and Mario Kart through Gaikai. Watch it after the break.

It works. No doubt. There it is: working. As MacDonald says in the WoW bit, the lag is “hardly noticeable”. The footage was filmed in Germany; the server’s in Holland.

It was confirmed this morning that the Cloud gaming service is to get a closed European beta this month.

Watch it. It’s the future.

I continue to be somewhat surprised that Nintendo are allowing them to use Mario Kart for this.

I’m not sure Mario Kart is the best game to use as demonstration in 2009…lol

I’m impressed.

One comment I have is that I’ve never seen them demo it in fullscreen. They supposedly use standard flash, so it should be possible, but is it?

Gaikai doesn’t do full-screen…

Gotta admit, I’m somewhat impressed.

The idea of simply sending a “join” invite through any means you want to friends who also have the service is a pretty cool idea, especially if there’s a broad range of popular titles.

“The footage was filmed in Germany; the server’s in Holland.”

So? They are neighbouring countries. The server could literally be just across the road. :p
