Batman 2? “We’re just waiting to see if people like the game,” says Rocksteady

batmanarkhamasylum10

The most obvious question in the history of obvious questions: is Rocksteady working on a sequel to the almost universally acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum? Shall we ask Paul Crocker, AA’s lead narrative designer? Oh, go on then.

“We’re just waiting to see if people like the game,” said Paul, speaking in this week’s VG247 podcast.

But surely the UK darling-of-the-moment’s putting together DLC for the original, right?

“We don’t talk about the DLC, I’m afraid,” Crocker added.

“The DLC”? You’ll just have to wait to see what that’s all about.

Pud doesn’t love it. If there’s no Batman 2 then there’s your culprit! :-D

It says on their website they’re already working on a “secret title”, so I’d rather hope we don’t see a sequel to Arkham for a good few years yet; DLC for the original is fine, but I don’t think they could make a sequel using the template of the first game for many reasons.

If there is a Batman 2, can it be in GC? Yeah, AA is nice and all but I want to drive the Bat vehicles (particularly the Batpod), run across rooftops, dangle criminals from said rooftops. I want to be Batman, not just look and fight like him.

Sounds like you want something open world Galactic, that would mean losing alot of the thing that made AA great.

Welcome to the DLC.
The first rule of the DLC is: you do not talk about the DLC.
The second rule of the DLC is: you DO NOT talk about the DLC!

@7 I agree removing what made the game great and make it open world would remove what made the first great. Its like having a T bone steak and then going for Taco bell because you felt like Mexican….

The in-game news ticker mentions the upcoming free DLC, it’s not a secret! Whether they’ll be any more of course remains to be seen.

Forget hating Batman, why do you hate amazing 3rd person action/adventure games?! Seriously, drop the bias and give it a try, I don’t see how anyone can be disapointed.

You know what publishers are like – they’ll wait for solid sales (not reviews) before commisioning a sequel. ;)

Hopefully pick up a copy this weekend. Out of the Argonaut flames, emerges a more then decent studio. Good work Rockshady peoples!
