Rumour – God of War games being bundled onto Blu-ray, GoW III demo added as well
Colour us interested if true.
According to PSX, God of War and God of War II will be coming to Blu-ray in time for Christmas for the PS3 for anyone who hasn’t played the first games yet, thats if a tweet from a Sony Mexico employee is correct.
Thats all well and good, but whats to stop you from buying both games for the PS2?
Simple – the Blu-ray also contains a demo for God of War III. Earlier this year, a survey went out asking people what they would like to see in a GoW III collectors edition. GoW and GoWII for Blu-ray was one of then options.
Take with a serious pinch of salt as always,
God of War III is out March 2010 for the Playstation 3.

Infinity Ward clarifies “no Modern Warfare 2″ Beta talk

Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling has weighed in on earlier news that Modern Warfare 2 will not be getting a public Beta.
Instead of rehashing what he said, we will let the man tell you himself, via his blog.
I wanted to clarify the supposed “news” coming out of GameCom this morning regarding no MW2 Beta.
First, nothing has technically changed by this news. As I’ve told you many times in the past, expect no Public Beta unless we announce otherwise. That is still the case. We would never say something as definitive as “No Beta Ever!” as that’s simply not how we work. We’ll do an internal beta, if we feel a public one is needed, we’ll explore that route as well.
It is true that we have not announced a Public Beta for MW2, and that remains true unless I announce otherwise.
However, while no Public Beta is currently announced we do plan on running an extensive Closed Beta among Infinity Ward, Activision, and possibly 1st party partners worldwide. The internal beta will allow us all the benefits of a public beta test without the impact it takes on the time required to prep, distribute, & manage a public beta during this crucial time in development.
Once the internal beta is completed, if for any reason we feel we didn’t receive the feedback, address the issues, or have the result we expect. We would consider pushing forward with a public one, however at this point only an internal Closed Beta is planned.
That said, any fears that no Public Beta will result in any quality loss in the final multiplayer game is completely unfounded; Multiplayer has always been and will always remain a major focus for the team at Infinity Ward and we would never ship a product we didn’t feel lived up to the high standards we hold ourselves to.
This decision allows us to deliver a more polished experience, which in the end, is what we all want.
There’s loads more there, go have a read.

Modern Warfare 2′s PC price shooting up to $60?

If a number of listings from major US retailers are to be believed, then yes. GameStop, Amazon, and Best Buy all have Modern Warfare 2 listed at the PC-unfriendly price of $60.
Only Walmart’s still asking $50 for Activision Blizzard’s next cash cow. But no one ever tells Walmart anything. It’s not cool.
We’ve sent an email over to Activision to confirm this expensive turn of events.
Thanks, Joystiq.

Value cuts Left 4 Dead price on Steam

Valve has cut the price of Left 4 Dead from $39.99 to $29.99 on Steam.
This is not another temporary price cut either, it’s permanent.
Not bad if you have been sitting on the fence considering Crash Course will be free when it is released for the game in September.

Pirates and ninjas coming to Fat Princess?

Pirates and ninjas? On Titan Studios’ website? What could this possibly mean? Could Fat Princess’ already sublime recipe be adding a couple dashes of stealth and swashbuckling?
Considering that one of the pictures is titled “FatPrincessPirates,” we’re going to say yes. Titan Studios, however, is saying nothing, so we’re just going to let the evidence speak for itself.

New Bethesda game to be announced in “the next month or so”

Fallout 3′s through. Over and done. So, what bomb is Bethesda dropping on the videogame world next? Well, we don’t really know. And Bethesda’s not telling. For now, anyway.
However, MTV Multiplayer sends word that we’ll hear something from Bethesda “in the next month or so.” What will it be? Well, according to Pete Hines, it won’t be an iPhone project or Todd Howard and co.’s next big thing.
Perhaps it’s that Wii game we’ve been waiting so long to hear about?

Lego Rock Band coming to the DS

CVG‘s gotten a quick peek at Lego Rock Band on this Nintendo DS, and apparently, it’s even more family friendly than the main versions of the game.
For one thing, “suggestive lyrics” will be absent from the game. Songs included on the DS’s surprisingly capable cart are Ruby by the Kaiser Chiefs, Monster by The Automatic and Ray Parker Jr’s theme from Ghostbusters.
The game includes an ad hoc multiplayer mode, and its single-player functions similarly to that of Rock Band Unplugged.

New screens for South Park: Let’s Go Tower Defense Play popped up on the net, courtesy of Shack.
To be made available on October 7, it’s exactly as the name suggests. A tower defense game.
What could be better than a game starring a fat fascist, a bleeding heart, a poor pervert in a hoodie and a kid whose Dad holds the record for the largest poo?
Dunno really, but we’ll find out soon enough.

ESRB listing provides first Assassin’s Creed: Discovery details

Assassin’s Creed: Discovery is real. We’re sure now. The ESRB has spoken, and it doesn’t lie. Ever. Here’s the ESRB’s description of the game, courtesy of GoNintendo.
“This is a side-scrolling action game, set during the Renaissance, in which players assume the role of an assassin fighting against an enemy group known as the Templars. Players traverse rooftops and alleyways, employ stealth attacks to kill targets, and engage in combat by using swords and throwing daggers.”
“The stealth attacks represent the most intense instanced of violence and usually require players to sneak up on targets unnoticed. When players stab enemies in the back or chest, a blade unsheathing noise can be heard as the target falls to the ground and disappears.”
So that’s that.

House: PSPgo feedback positive, initial consumers to benefit
SCEE president Andrew House has told VG247 that initial feedback for PSPgo has been positive, and the consumers who hop on board first will benefit.
The console was given prices of $249/€249/¥24,980 when the console was announced back at E3 in June. And only last night did SCEE tell us that it’ll retail for £224.99.
“I think, clearly, there is a delta there between PSPgo and the existing PSP-3000. We’ve received, to date, some tremendous anecdotal feedback on the form factor and the sheer sexiness of the device which I think bodes well for its launch.
“We, at least for Europe, were very keen to put an initial offer in place that would reward the consumer who jumps on board first. Therefore, I think the offer that we announced yesterday, that those initial purchasers will be able to get GT for PSP absolutely free. I think that goes a long way to addressing that.
“We’re also looking at some other plans further down the line that will come together for launch around people who have existing UMD libraries and what we can do to incentivize those as well. So, I think that and a combination of what is a really very attractive portable device leaves us feeling fairly confident where we are right now.”

House: SCEE would “absolutely” make PS3 £199 if it were “sensible”

SCEE president, Andrew House, has said that Sony would like to knock down the price of PS3 to the same £199 price point PS2 saw during its peak last generation.
However, that is providing the decision to lower the cost that much was within the boundaries of “sensible business”.
“If we could get to a more aggressive price point within the boundaries of sensible business, absolutely would we wish to do that? Yes, we would,” he told VG247 exclusively during GamesCom.
“We have to deal with an exchange regiment that is-what-it-is right now, and not something that we are obviously in control of. I also think, as well, that that we have – let’s not forget – a great line-up of content coming for PS3 this year that I think will be very motivating and I think what we are also trying to do – we spent a lot of time yesterday very deliberately talking about the network – talking about what we are doing to improve, refresh, and add more capabilities to the network.”
As far as making a splash during this holiday season, House believes with the recent announcement of the movies on demand service along with the size of PSN, Sony is in good shape.
“What I hope is starting to become very apparent with PS3, is that the network has a larger community that you can engage with because there are more services, more things that you can do – access to movies now coming in November – and we are adding value to the existing PS3 owner as well.
“I think, will put us in reasonably good shape for this holiday.”
