My guess it that Nintendo will announce “Wii 2/ Wii HD” very soon.
TGS would be an appropriate event to do so, although they usually don’t attend this expo.
That’s why they have no intentions right now to lower the price of the current SKU.

Now if only Nintendo could destroy everyone’s cartridges, old systems, and ROMs. Then someone might care that you can only play old Nintendo games on “Nintendo systems”.

I’m sorry, I meant someone who doesn’t already have a Wii, which is presumably the group they’re trying to sell Wiis to. I don’t think the “wait until demand dries up” notion is very bright of Nintendo. Their hardware probably costs $50 to make now and, with the charm of the Wii drying up, now would be a great time to shift into another gear competitively.
