To be honest, these don’t sound particularly great – the arcade ‘deal’ especially is rubbish unless it’s suddenly sporting a chunk of hardware that it didn’t have before. The removal of the Pro option is just bizarre.

But Amazon etc should still show the correct RRP, then their price (showing the discount) beside it. Strange: you’d think they would want the credit for selling over twenty squids below the RRP, rather than the three or so it is shown as at the moment.

The Elite-price will drop from £239.99 to £199.99 – the same as a Wii – with the Pro 60Gb being discontinued.

Wii RRP is £179.99, not £199.99, according to the several sites I’ve looked at.

EDIT: Looks like Amazon et al have it wrong. It is £199 RRP.

@Withnail: I wouldn’t be surprised if the new £159 Arcade SKU included a HDD. Microsoft is serious about getting people online and convincing them to buy virtual tat. It would also explain the increase in price and the disappearance of the pro (which would become a bit useless and unnecessary if the Arcade SKU already came with a HDD)

Whoa, MS is playing this quite intelligently. Why cut the price in the US? Your main competition is the PS3, you already have a sizeable lead here, let them duke it out for a while.

Keep the price lower in some of the “weaker” territories, it won’t make a difference which is the better deal. One is cheaper than the other, period. Freaking brilliant.
