Bayonetta “80 percent complete,” says Hashimoto, Sega “not disappointed” at slip

Platinum’s Bayonetta is four fifths complete, producer Yusuke Hashimoto told VG247 at GamesCom today, with Sega adding that it’s not concerned about the title being pushed back into next year.

“In terms of development, we’re actually aboiut 80 percent there,” said Hashimoto, speaking after a demo.

“We’ve only made the really basic parts, what makes the game really, really good, what makes the game really, really fun.

“We’re at the stage to actually polish the game, to balance it out nicely; to make it really nice and tidy.”

Sega said the decision to move the mental actioner into 2010 was simply down to crowding and cash.

“No, we’re not disappointed,” said brand manager Antione Malont.

“It was purely a business decision. We’ve got a lot of games coming from Sega already coming this year.

“Bayonetta is really, really important to us, and we want it to work very well, that’s why we decided to postpone untiul very early next year.”

For the record, Bayonetta looks absolutely incredible. You will buy it. It’s common sense.

Er… isn’t this supposed to be out in Japan quite soon? I’m sure they’ll be thrilled that it’s only 80% done. :-D

I don’t see any reason to worry, the game has about a month and a half of development time left, as it releases at the end of October. Plus devs usually work a ton of overtime in this final stage. They seem right on track to me.
