Sony’s GC Press Event: Digital Reader announced for PSP

The PS3 Slim may have stolen the show, sold it, and used the resulting cash to buy an offshore island and a small armada, but the PSP was there too! Honest!

Soon, Sony announced, its diminuitive marvel will be able to read books. The service is set to launch with “hundreds” of digital comics, including a number of classics from comic book powerhouse Marvel.

“Spiderman, X-Men, the Hulk, Wolverine, Daredevil, Thor, loads more,” as we said in our liveblog.

The service is coming to both Europe and America this December.

I’m afraid i’ll have to pass .

Given marvel’s usual stubborness about putting out comics as fast as retail (just look at their actual digital offering , an issue going digital 1-2 weeks after the paper one is issued would be ok , but 6 months ? now that’s ridiculous) … and their refusal of more universal formats such a cbr and cbz for digital comics , i suspect it’s the usual stuff impossible to read without a psp , ps3 and the needed tools .

Based on my assumptions only , it doesnt seems good enough for people already using digital comics scans , legally or illegally
