Star Wars: The Old Republic playable at GamesCom
EA’s confirmed to VG247 that BioWare’s magnum opus, Star Wars: The Old Republic, will be in a playable state at GamesCom next week.
Play-slots are being offered to attending journalists, and indications are very good from those who’ve already had hands-on time.
The Cologne show runs from next Tuesday to Saturday. The Old Republic has no date as yet, although it was rumoured yesterday to be shipping late next year.

I really want this to be good but so far, I am far from impressed – apart from the amazing CGI trailer, I am slowly losing interest in this

I’m really looking forward to it. And I hate Star Wars.

I am sold.
1) Bioware
2) Main focus is story
3) NPcs helping you with betrayal, romance, revenge
4) Party makes decisions as far as the story goes(if in a party)
Lots of innovative things in this game. So far no MMO has attempted this. Its a Bioware game made MMO, can’t wait and if it has a playable demo then that Sept 2010 release seems likely

Whats innovative in this game exactly? Looks like MMO 101 to me.

yeah all MMOs focus is definately story, they all also have morale choices that will change your faction, and have NPCs that are companions yep Warcraft definately has that

i agree with phoenix, i also really like the art style, it’s updated and looks very kotor which is obviously where the whole thing comes from.

Looks more like a really deep RPG with MMO elements TBH. Almost certainly a good thing.

I’ve never really had any interest in an MMO before, I just can’t be bothered. But this one is actually starting to catch my eye. Its bioware doing what they do best (and what I love), characters and story. For me that’s sold.
But then it makes me wonder how much of it will actually be MMO. Surely you don’t need any other player interaction if you’ve got all your trusty companions already.
