360 summer dashboard update goes live, adds Games on Demand
Nelson’s just confirmed that the 360 summer dashboard update is now live, along with the much-awaited Games on Demand feature
He points out that it’s a global roll-out and may not reach you for a few hours yet.
It’s a mandatory update.
Things to note:
- While you can browse and purchase Avatar items and full Xbox 360 games in the console with this update, the ability to add these items your Xbox 360 download queue from Xbox.com will be available this Thursday.
- Xbox LIVE integration with Twitter, Facebook and Last.FM will be available later this year.
- Zune Video Marketplace will also ship later this fall when it will replace the current Video Marketplace.
Go fetch!

They’ve changed their mind about ‘Live being down’ now, too. It won’t be.

Twitter, Facebook and Last.FM will be available later this year…. just like 1 vs 1000 was available last year? Hmmm, I think a post-Xmas release is more than likely if past performance is anything to go on.
I shall download the update on Thursday, once all the roll-out snafus have been ironed out.

Games on Demand are way over priced.

I cant think of a reason to bother when I have storage issues already (MS’s 20gb drive that actually only gives you 13gb of useable space) and they can be bought elsewhere cheaper.
Unless some cool shit is released or the games become cheaper then I can see this being a big FLOP.

That’s a fairly compelling argument to not buy Mass Effect as a download.

Mass Effect Special Edition (in stock) at HMV for just £11.99. That’s gotta be the SKU to buy.

The regular edition is over at PLAY.com for £11.00 (with free delivery)

Get the special edition on disc Pat, it’s a much better purchase.

If it’s anything like the preview dash, it’ll only take about 20 seconds to download and install.

The preview dash took significantly longer to download and install in the village where I’ve just moved. Normally get about 2Mbs connection and it took AGES both times.
25 minutes to be precise.
