This is a really concerning development for games as a medium at large.

Although of course its important to remember no law has passed just yet, it would be a pretty insane scenario to have one medium being controlled by politics/law.

Some of the lowest and most regrettable eras of the modern world featured pretty heavy political constraining of creative forms.

i´m glad that finally an important german developer speaks out loud in a clear way with a clear statement. i hope this will have an impact on the political responsible. the whole killer spiele debate is such a shame. it is a helpless cry for medial attention from some over the hill politicians...unfortunately there are some over the hill citizens who will vote for them anyway. in germany you need a lobby if you want politicians to listen to you. i hope the german creatives are working on something like that already. otherwise were fu%&ed...cevat yerli, come to berlin and and develop the games here you´re closer to poltics...then what a about public killergaming on a big screen in front of the reichstag? that would be fun!

this is a product of their turbulent past same reason japan has a pacifist constitution; shame culture has to suffer like this though, especially since games are so cathartic and can help tame aggression!

I hope Yerli has at least tried to speak to his government about this, as I'd wager they are in a strange situation, considering they get budgets in the millions of € I'd imagine the german government wouldn't want to lose the ability to tax some of them.

Shame, germans are a decent bunch of folk going by the many i've met online over the years, just a shame their government is crazy conservative.

Let Crytek come in France. Nobody will bother them there and it's just on the other side of the Rhein.

Canada will take them, pass it on. And the way we're spending for ubisoft's expansion into Toronto they might be better off for it.

They once got raided by armed police in a "killer-spiele" investigation before they moved to Frankfurt. I'm amazed they stuck it out after that.
