Halo Wars stats wipe was “human error,” Microsoft admits
Major Nelson’s apologised on behalf of Microsoft for Halo Wars’ leaderboards being completely reset on Wednesday, saying the gaffe was “human error”.
Sounds as though there’s no chance of the boards being restored: Nelson said the “unfortunate incident” has “resulted in the loss of all data” related to the strategy title’s online portion.
In a word, “whoops”. Bet the “human” involved feels awesome.

I’m pretty sure Microsoft don’t fire people for silly little accidents which haven’t lost them a single penny.

@2, It’s less about the money and more about the incompetence.

anybody who is able to reset stats on a complete scale like this without anybody noticing, is probably to high up in the organization to be fired.

Well, this is only Halo Wars. Imagine if it were ODST or *gasp* Halo 3. There would be mass rioting in the streets.

Someone should do that with WoW. Set them all back to level 1 and delete all their gear. >:)
