Ghostbusters briskly moves one million units in North America

ghostbusters3

After debuting little more than a month ago, Ghostbusters: The Videogame has already haunted one million North American homes.

“We are very pleased with the performance of Ghostbusters: The Videogame, and credit the game’s quality as well as the incredible support from both the established and new fan-base all helping to make this a retail success,” said Atari CEO Jim Wilson.

While the game hit every console under the sun in North America, only PS3 and PS2 versions heeded the call in Europe. We imagine Atari’s anticipating another sales boost when Ghostbusters launches on Xbox 360, Wii, et. all on October 23.

Thanks, Edge.

I just don’t see how you could be that pleased with 1m across seven platforms. That said, given the financial trouble they’re in, I can’t blame them for talking it up.

Lost interest in this game halfway through and gave up. Traded it. Most disappointing: the very average [PS3] graphics didn’t bother me, it was the lousy weapon controls and lazy voice acting which wound me up.

Proof that a game doesn’t have to be good to sell well. Just needs marketing.

Played the demo over the weekend and… let’s just say that all that initial excitement I had for the title has basically evaporated. :-(
