Silicon Knights project revealed through Canadian cultural agency

siliconknightslogo

Telefilm Canada, the federal cultural agency formed to promote media in Canada and hand out grants, has listed a new Silicon Knights project currently in the works for consoles.

Titled Siren in the Maelstrom, it’s listed as a possible portable or console project.

Over on the official SK forums, the community is chatting this up a bit, but there is still no hint as to what this formally secret project could entail.

Hopefully more will be revealed soon.

Thanks, GoNintendo, Via NextGen Player.

Are they even allowed to release anything considering the use of UE without payment?

Besides the non payment what about the flop of Too Human….

Couldn’t they just not use the UE and make a game?

Paul, that sucks dude. But to be fair, I checked both yours and GoNintendo’s site (yours initally) and I needed VG247 to clarify it all. It was that confusing.

“Are they even allowed to release anything considering the use of UE without payment?”

Yeah, they’re totally not allowed to ever release a game ever, ever again because of some complex, convoluted legal drama that was years ago that nobody really knows all the details about.

*sarcasm*

“Besides the non payment what about the flop of Too Human…”

It sold nearly a million copies, and Silicon Knights *expanded* after its release, so they’re clearly doing something right.

Too Human actually sold like 600k, and only like 160k in the first month, didn’t it?

Thanks Stephany, much appreciated. If you look at the Telefilm press release you’ll notice a whole slew of games being funded, some of which haven’t been announced yet. Another game that stands out is “Last Ones Standing”, a new IP by Toronto-based Bedlam Games. The new studio is comprised mainly of former Rockstar, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft employees. It’s supposed to be a AAA title for “next gen” consoles.

I’m always an arse when people state poorly researched, propaganda derived “facts”, and Silicon Knights / Denis Dyack disliking is right up there at the top of biased ignorance. I’m not a fan of ignorance.

They’ve been very quiet since Too Human, I wondered what they’d been working on. I really didn’t like the Too Human demo, so I hope it’s something completely different and not “Two Human”. :-)
