FIFA 11 could use Natal or Sony controller, but not because it “should”

FIFA 11 could  end up using Natal and Sony’s motion controller, says series producer David Rutter, but not because people think it should be used.

“It’s funny. He (Peter Moore) said that and John Riccitiello said you’d never want Natal to control FIFA,” Rutter told Videogamer. “There are a few things we could do, which we’re thinking about doing at the moment. But it’s not something that’s suddenly going to manifest itself in FIFA 10.”

FIFA 11 then becomes a distinct possibility.

“I’m a big fan of, and I’ve said it a number of times and I’ll say it again, if it’s not good enough it won’t make it in,” he continued. “Don’t just want to put something in because it’s something we’re asked to do or it’s something people think we should.

“If it doesn’t add to the overall thing, then it’s pointless. I don’t want it to be just this distraction, to be quite honest. There are a few things we can do, definitely, but we’ve not really started on it yet.”

I can see motion control ubiquitously making twats of us all.

I can see it creating a new dimension to charades called ‘guess that game’

    NATAL enabled penalty shoot outs!

Can you imagine the health warning NATAL is going to carry. All the stuff with the Wii was bad enough. NATAL will be accompanied by a H&S document the size of War and Peace.(and about as exciting)

/thinks back to smashing the crap out of the light fitting on the ceiling whilst paying Wii Tennis. Ouch!

Yeah, a stand alone natal penalty or free kick competition/mode would be nice, but not for the game proper.

It could definitely work in some side modes but I agree, the main exhibitions should remain NATAL free (unless EA have some wonderful ideas to prove me wrong?)

Doing “keepy uppies” could be good fun, passing the ball between more than one player without it dropping to the ground to get ya mates/family involved.

“Soccer Skills” aka flicks flips taps and other tricks could be another modes with points being scored for skill, extravagance and quality.

There are so many possibilities that I think its more likely that EA will realise that they can make an entire title out of “ball related fitness” and flog it to us seperately from FIFA.

    Ker Ching!
