Midway label still up in the air with Warner acquisition

Warner Bros officially owns Midway, along with  Mortal Kombat, This Is Vegas and Midway trademarks, which has led some to question whether the Midway brand will continue to exist.

“Midway Games Inc. still exists, and the Midway trademark and games such as Mortal Kombat and This is Vegas and most of the IP library are now owned by Warner Bros,” a Midway spokesperson told Kotaku.

“It will be up to Warner Bros. to determine how they will approach their branding strategy.”

Midway began life as Midway Mfg. Co. in 1958, so it would indeed be strange to see a Warner label on a Mortal Kombat game.

    MK9!!!! Wooh!

I like MK a lot actually. It was hilarious to play with your mates by telekinetically breaking bones and plucking eyes, mechanically mincing foes, freezing them, squirting acid at them, throwing up on them.

I mean, Mortal Kombat is pretty much the most disgusting, distasteful game ever.

I gotta agree, though the only ones i ever enjoyed playing was MKII, then Deadly Alliance. It’s still funny beating the shit out of Scorpion as a blind guy.

I thought MK vs DC was actually a bloody good game – I much preferred it to Street Fighter 4, although I wouldn’t be surprised if I was the only one!
