Activision explains why Call of Duty is back on Modern Warfare 2

Apparently, Activision has offered up an explanation as to why it chose to – once again – attach Call of Duty to Modern Warfare 2.
“Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 is the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare,” a spokesperson told Kotaku. “We have focused our attention on Modern Warfare in order to most effectively communicate the fact that this is the first true sequel in the Call of Duty series.
“Infinity Ward, the original creators of the Call of Duty franchise, has said from the beginning Modern Warfare 2 resides in the Call of Duty universe. This is reflected in the title’s package.”
There. End of Story. Please. For the love of God and the public’s sanity.

Or rather… because it turned out that all the casuals had no idea what Modern Warfare 2 was.

They’ve really managed to make a mess of this whole naming thing…
I reckon the box will change again, and the Call of Duty will grow even bigger. Once you decide to use it, you might as well focus on it, because it’s that name that you’re counting on to slap all of the casuals in the face and say ‘Hey! this is the sequel to that Call of Duty 4 game that everyone used to talk about’.

Glad the name is back as I definitely think it will help sell more copies…..but anything Activision attempts to say is a reason behind the name chage just sounds stupid considering they’ve already taken the opposite position.
