Mäki – No “schedule” for Alan Wake PC updates

Remedy boss Markus Mäki has told VG247 that there’s no timeframe in place for the release of news on Alan Wake’s PC version.

“I don’t unfortunately have a schedule for updates at this point,” the developer said via email.

His comment comes after he yesterday posted on the Alan Wake message boards to say that he “will be making comments in regards to the PC at a later in time.”

Mäki said in the same post that all of Remedy’s efforts are currently focused on the game’s 360 version.

Alan Wake as originally announced as a 360 and PC game in 2005.

It’s microsft basic trying to destory the pc gaming platform too. Microsft has not made any real pc games in 2 years. They basicly didn’t want game devs and publishers to talk about any thing about pc gaming at E3. Why because their consoles are not making money and microsft is in the red.

“Why because their consoles are not making money and microsft is in the red.”

Incorrect. Their entertainment division is making a profit and Microsoft as a whole has never even been close to being in the red.

    @ BDH

Dunno what you have been smoking but Microsoft in the red? Riiiight keep dreaming the reason why they don’t push it to PC games first is obvious reason Pirating. When games start slowing on being bought they push it to PC, any money is better then no money.

Can you show me where MS have been in the red there?

As for the entertainment division, they made $426m in year ending 2008 and currently stand at $298m for Q1 – Q3 of year ending 2009.

I don’t like to download files not going to down load that file if you have other sorces bring it. I prefer links. By the way it’s common knowledge microsft is no tdoing well. they are in the red last qauter.

they have spent what is it 10 billion on consoles. they are not going to being making that back.

why do you think thereis no new consoles. lol

I rest my case. In fact 2008 is the only year microsft was in the balcksince this console gen started.

How can you withstand such a well thought out argument though PT? You just bought facts and truth, BDH has opinion and guesswork!

WoW BDH you just shot yourself in the foot.

“why do you think thereis no new consoles”

    Really? Really?

Hmm maybe because Microsoft stated that Xbox 360 has a 10 year life span…

Wish there was an ignore button X_X

  12. blackdreamhunk

please i don’t go by guess work, far from it. I only deal with facts I have links to support it.

I don’t want to down load any virous too. agin if you have any links with creadable sorces I will take a look.

I know for a fact sony has spent 7 billion and microsoft has spent 10 billion and they are not going to make that moeny back. hence the long console cicyle.

nintendo is what is making huge money right now. If you want to say I amde of opinion other facts say other wise.

truth always speaks for it self.

lol, it’s a link to the Microsoft site. Sure, you’re going to get buried in viruses from there. You’re not interested because it doesn’t backup what you believe.

As you’re scared of the Microsoft site, here’s a link to a google spreadsheet containing the same info (their profit figure is bolded): http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=tm3gp8AVXBQSnSeer9_uksw

Whilst you’re talking about facts, care to backup those $7 billion and $10 billion numbers with something?

    #13 5 years ago
  14. blackdreamhunk

the 10 billion and 7 billion is from a book can’t remeber the name of the book i have been following micrsoft and sony since they have been losing billions on consoles

So euh, next to all that meaningful linking, does anyone catch the irony of this “PC version comes later, if at all” statement? A year or two ago Remedy have been showing off Alan Wake on special Intel events and made so much fuss about it that it could only run on Vista (aka DX10). That’s all gone now then?

Seems like Microsoft Game Studios really have closed down all their PC activities. Joy… not.

@BDH: Sony haven’t lost a cent on their gaming division overall, they’re still well in profit. Microsoft obviously lost large amounts of money in their entertainment division originally, but that’s what comes of buying yourself into the marketplace. They’re making steady profits now, and the Q3 results are hardly surprising given it covers January to March… a particularly weak part of the year for gaming. They’ll still be comfortably in profit for the full year.

You like to talk about investors a lot… but I don’t think you realise that investors care about profits going forward and what’s happening now, not what happened in the past.

    #16 5 years ago
  17. blackdreamhunk

yea I am sure investoer know about the decline in sales right in a recssion. Sony is hope for a long cicyle which will must likely not happen.

there was a study just done gamers don’t want to shelllout $60 per a game or 100 per game. they are renting and buying used games. the console deline is just going to get bigger from here on in. Unless maybe motion controls works which i highly dumbt.

they may cut price tag on consoles, they get a boost there
but it’s not going to help sony. Sony is just going to lose more and more if the nintendo and xbox360 is around.

peter Molyneux has this thing called diarrhea of the mouth same goes for the creator of Epic.

WHy is it that most if not all 3rd party Developers that made games exclusively for the PC are jumping ship towards consoles? Oh because they want to get into a bankrupt industry, that makes perfect sense…
