Dragon Quest IX will be “hard”

ragon Quest IX isn’t going to be some pansy-assed DS RPG. No sir. It’s for the hardcore.
“We make the game to be quite hard,” series creator Yuji Horii told Touch-DS.
“It’s harder than any of the previous titles, and the enemies are also powerful… We strengthened the bosses, stuff like that.”
It’s out in Japan this month, and in Europe and the US in 2147. Thanks, Kotaku.

They’ll just make it easier again for the Western releases anyway. They usually do.

Fine, as long as hard means “Tactical” and not “Go away and grind for 72 hours”. Given it’s Dragon Quest though, I suspect there will be grinding.

No, they usually make it harder for the Western audience – hence all the rock-hard boss monsters that appear in all the US/Europe Final Fantasy games which then get rereleased as the “International Edition” in Japan.
I’m sort of pleased by this – VIII was very easy if you ground it out enough.
