LucasArts teases big retro announcement for Monday

LucasArts has teased a reveal for Monday via Twitter, stating that the announcement will be another “old school” title for fans to go gaga over.
It could be anything, really, considering how highly the company thinks of digital distribution.
Here are the tweets thanks to GamingShogun:
- Tweet One: ‘Amazing news coming Monday! Super excited! You have no idea how tough it is not to start yelling about it! But it’s secret! Until Monday!’
- Tweet Two: ‘I don’t want to tease, it is just tough not to say anything! I might be tempted, however. Have to think about it over the weekend.
’ - Tweet Three: ‘Okay, we will do hints. It is awesome news for our old school fans. (anything more direct might get me in trouble)’
Ah, lovely Twitter. You have become the place for gaming publishers and developers to tease the pants off of loyal idolaters.

Day of the Tentacle HD remake?
PLEASE MAKE IT SO!
“It doesn’t have to do with any specific intellectual property…”
BOO HISS!
Maybe they’ll make SCUMM open source? That would be epic.

In any case, if it’s retro lucasarts, it’s got to be something good for anyone to take an interest in it, and if the blogger thats talking about it is “Super excited”, then i’m hoping for another point and click adventure classic because thats all i would be “Super excited” for.
We can live in hope

It was on their twitter page, the *source* of this information. *rolls eyes*
Anyway, this is supposed to be getting announced today. Should be interesting to see exactly what it is.

He also said … “Not a new IP, but a treat for our old school fans.” … which kind of contradicts “It doesn’t have to do with any specific intellectual property…” … unless it is an announcement that the back catalogue of point and clicks are all coming.

Later on, they said no “new IP” in the tweets, actually.
Then:
“Last hint: someone guessed it dead on. With that, I am off to bed. You’ll know more in 12 or so hours. You guys are all awesome.
about 12 hours ago from TwitterFon”
– Tell me now!

Ah – Monkey Island
– slaps forehead. Wouldn’t that be a specific IP though?
One hour to go btw.

From the later posts, I read that he meant “new stuff for specific IP”. Such a bundle is at least a possibility.

Wahey, Loom on Steam! Oh, and a bunch of other games:
http://www.lucasarts.com/company/vip/catalog/lec_backcatalog_2009.pdf
I would’ve liked an HD remake of that, which seems less likely now that it’s on Steam. Still, if they put the “talkie” version up it should still be great.

disappointed. fucking disappointed.
first of all, nobody likes steam. second of all, they think that milking old money is good news for us? holy shit who do they think we are?
instead of releasing the games freeware they’re just going to leech on money from something they made years ago PLUS it has to be on a gay platform like steam
fucking disappointed lucas arts, fucking disappointed
