Because releasing high quality content for free undermines their own business plan of paid for premium DLC.

It's the reason the TF2 content was held back, Valve wanted to release a large amount of upgrades at once if you had to pay for it.

Then there's also the crazy file restriction putt in place due to the existence of the Arcade model.

And then at the same time all of that can be subverted if you release the content for free on another platform, like Burnout Paradise.

In other words; the rules are crazy and inconsistent but they're still there.

"MS would never let big parts of that game be released for free on Live for the original title."

Why the hell would MS deliberately refuse to allow a company to release perfectly good content if that's what they wanted to do?

*hands you a tinfoil hat*

<i>"Valve do support the 360, just much much much much much later than PC.

And why not? The PC is their lead platform, they work on perfecting their stuff on PC, get it out, make sure the PC gamers are happy, then they work on porting to 360. It’s the way things should be."</i>

Euh, that's only the case for TF2 content, I thought that Valve and MS agreed to release L4D content (not simple bugfixes or matchmaking/mod stuff which should have been in from the start) simultaneously on PC and Xbox360, much to the chagrin of PC players because we had to wait longer for that meagre DLC because of that agreement (Live shitty certification and all that).

As anyone knows L4D2 also happened because MS would never let big parts of that game be released for free on Live for the original title. So yeah, I do think the development of the PC version has been hampered by MSs influence and earlier deals with Valve. Progress they say, it's just beyond retarded for any sane person.

I am still buying L4D2 but there better be more of a PC focus now than before. Standard server browser pls, fuck those lobbies.

"So what about the players who brought the 360 version?"

"Valve has stated that more Left 4 Dead DLC will be announced before the end of the summer for both PC <b>and Xbox 360.</b>"

Yeah... great. So what about the players who brought the 360 version? Are we still not worthy for Valve support on their products?
