Media Molecule hiring for a “ground-breaking, AAA, PS3 title”

Media Molecule is hiring for a Gameplay Programmer to work on a “ground-breaking, AAA, PS3 title for Sony Computer Entertainment.”
This is according to a job posting over on Edge.
Experience needed includes “writing and maintaining physics code” and to have “shipped a console game with an online component.”
This could be the much rumored LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet PSP, something new entirely or just extra staff for the current game.

Another PS3 exclusive?
I’m slightly surpised Sony haven’t bought Media Molecule yet, as they did with Guerrilla, when the first Killzone was still in development.

Why bother? “Free-range” developers are happier and still put out great products, and I’m sure it’s cheaper for Sony to have good relations with companies such as Naughty Dog and Insomniac than it would be to outright buy them. Besides, there’s nothing to stop all the talent leaving when you buy a studio…

^^ Um, Sony own Naughty Dog. Outright.

Well, it won’t be for LittleBigPlanet PSP. That’s being written at SCEE Cambridge Studio, not at Media Molecule.

Sounds suspiciously like LittleBigPlanet. Copy/paste fail.

Dean, that’s what I was goign to say.
Not only is it being developed at Studio Cambridge, but the entry also says
“ground-breaking, AAA, PS3 title for Sony Computer Entertainment”
Not PSP, and it won’t be LBP2. Shirley?

If it isn’t LBP2 I’ll be surprised.

Really? You think they’d milk that IP?
I expect more from them.

I’m sure they wouldn’t, but Sony sure as hell would.

With the sales? I don’t know.
I reckon they’d be more useful to do another game. But, lets see if Sony is the IP whore I hope they aren’t.

I think the way forward with LBP is to extend the basis they have with DLC and release compilation versions at retail. The next full game from MM should be a similar premise to LBP but in a different genre.
