Splinter Cell Conviction console exclusivity was “a logical step,” says Ubisoft

Alain Corre, executive director of Ubisoft, has said the decision to make Splinter Cell Conviction an Xbox 360 console exclusive was a “logical step” for the company.

“It was a decision that we took many years ago,” he told GI. “It’s been an ongoing process.

“For us when we decided to do that many years ago it was a logical step.”

Corre was equally cool when asked whether Ubisoft was worried about limiting sales to just one machine. “But there are also a lot of hardcore gamers who have ownership of both consoles,” he explained.

“And everyone has a PC at home. To a certain extent if players want the next Splinter Cell game they will find a way.”

Splinter Cell Conviction is out for PC and Xbox 360 in October.

“It was a logical step after Microsoft sent over all those hookers with the big bags of cash!”

@ Blerk
LOL. Exactely what I wanted to say as well.

Money talks. Period.
So don’t try to give us this BS-explanation, Ubisoft.

eh, I think it’s the same thing as with Rockstar’s Agent — console exclusivity helps a game in terms of word of mouth and attention diverted towards it by the manufacturer.

also, he is right in saying that if people want to play it, they will find a way.

I like how he says ‘and everyone has a PC at home’ like everyone has a PC that will play modern games at home. I’m surmising Splinter Cell won’t have the same system requirements as Peggle?

Given the roots of the series it’s always been at least heavily tilted towards the original Xbox, so I see what he means by that.

But otherwise: yeah, hookers and cash :)

Ubisoft stop talking bullshit. Exclusive – one platform, not 2 or 3 or 4. And Ubisoft fuck you with your PC, i am not going to support torrent user. Better to spend my money on something else, Brutal Legend for example, real console exclusive

3rd party exclusivity sucks for the consumer masses. Ubisoft can eat a dick

PS3 owners cry that they wont get to play splinter cell. Everyone else eats lolcakes and watches the show.
