Fat Princess not out this week but “summer,” says Sony

Monday, 22nd June 2009 08:56 GMT By Mike

Sony’s Mike Kebby told the EU PlayStation blog that the cake-filled PSN title Fat Princess will not be coming out in June as promised:

“The game is coming at some point this summer, but there is no confirmed release date at the moment.”

Hurry it up, Sony.

this game irks me. it is extremely funny, the writing is clever and the style is adorable. too bad it is not fun. at all.

Hmm. “Promised” is an evocative term. Neatly distorting the tone of what was originally said into something else.

You have to admit Shatner that saying “Late June, Fat Princess will be rolling onto PSN!” doesn’t leave much room for any other interpretation.

If someone declares something as “a promise” I regard it as one. I don’t magically transform a statement on intent into a personal sounding promise in order to make it sound more evocative (and the ‘victims’ more maligned) when a game gets delayed.

Phew. Good jobs no other games ever get delayed huh? All those broken hearted (yet resolutely indifferent) gamers out there!

1prom·ise Listen to the pronunciation of 1promise

1 a: a declaration that one will do or refrain from doing something specified

I’m sure I’m within the bounds of that, but if it’s misleading, then I apologise.

Or, crazy notion Mike, you can simply report what was actually said without trying to add your personal spin on it.

It’s not a hard concept to grasp and you’re an allegedly intelligent person. So, this insistence on arbitrarily misquoting someone so as to imply they used phrases they didn’t is really quite transparent and childish.

Too busy trying to BE the news instead of simply reporting it.
